I had a feeling that this was going to start to happen. You cant just shut down peoples livelihoods and think sending them a mere $1200 is going to cover them for an indefinite period of time. Im afraid we will probably begin to see riots if they try to drag this out past May. Going to have to at least begin phasing stuff back to normalcy soon and just bite the bullet unfortunately.

It's not like people were following the stay at home orders as individuals anyways. They were just out of work, not staying home.

Fines are never given out when people break the law? Well thats fucking news to me. We are in the middle of a public health crisis. Fines are absolutely going to be handed out when you are disobeying standards set by your states governor.

Eeyup. If they actually want this to end quickly, the best thing they can do is stay home and encourage everyone they know to do the same. Maybe also drive around and murder everyone they see walking around as well for good measure, but that might be a bit extreme.

he should've gone to a smaller store, one that doesn't have its seeds in a dedicated gardening department.

stores are allowed to sell gardening supplies, they're just not allowed to sell them from a dedicated gardening department if they're too big.
if your supermarket/grocery store just has a carousel or shelf with seeds they can sell it without restriction.

I'm curious how much good fining people will do. Lots of people are out of work; they don't even have money to pay rent, so how do you expect them to pay fines?

We need people to take it seriously and they aren't, we need the government to take it seriously and they aren't. Honestly with how half assed the US response is there was probably no point in shutting down in the first place.

It's so silly how childish adults are becoming. There's no good excuse for going out unless you have an actual responsibility like work or NEED food for your family to cook.

I guess enforced fines really are necessary. I have a letter excusing me if I need to go to work and they go that far.

It's like the very concept of cause and effect fries these people's brains.

It happens every time there's a big public health problem. The problem emerges, public health agencies around the world make a big deal out of it, media reports on this, the general public start to worry, and then the potential epidemic is resolved without much threat to the general public. And then the general public says that they got worked up over a non-problem, ignoring that the reason it wasn't a problem is because public health agencies made a big deal out of it and worked very hard - often at considerable personal risk - to keep it from being a problem.

This one's a bit different because it is immediately threatening the general public, but the same "logic" still shows up. If people take precautions and it ends up not being too bad, those same people will complain that they took precautions for something that ended up not being too bad and completely fail to understand why it wasn't bad.

That'd be nice, but unfortunately, the virus isn't so discriminating. More people will be endangered by the actions of these protesters than protesters themselves will be, which is why these crowds of idiots just need to be tear gassed back into their homes.

So can I use my "2nd Amendmant" to do something about these protesters? To protect the health and safety of me and mine?

Two of my uncles co-workers have died from the virus (He lives in NY), one online friend I have went to the hospital and was on a ventilator, and I have not heard from a few other friends in the NY area in over 3 weeks.

So yeah, real people are dying.

The thing is many areas are almost untouched by it. Where I live, Tacoma, part of pierce county has almost 1 mill residents but has only had 26 deaths and 1000 cases.

Most everyone here is ignoring it, something I didn't know till a few days ago when, out of desperation to see the outside world while it was so sunny, I went out mid day, and saw that things were totally normal, and nobody was staying at home.

Those of us that are actually following the orders won't know that though, because we are staying inside, The sad thing is, we are pretty much doing that for nothing. I stayed inside for 2 months, and could have been going out every day. There was no way to know that, and i'm sure a good 20% of the residents of pierce country are STILL staying inside.

Yeah, if there is an outbreak here, they will be safe, but the efforts and sacrfices of people who are health/young and staying indoors in this are are totally wasted, because too many people are ignoring the orders, if it spreads here, it'll do so like crazy because so many people are out and about.

People like me who are high risk should have stayed home anyway, so it doesn't affect me too much, but people who actually are healthy and stayed home to protect others? I would be furious.
