Im spending more time on the scenery of my island than anything else. Are there any games with more focus on town/environment customization?

Don't think I've played one before, but it's nice when you discover a new genre that you really love. My gaming world changed when I discovered roguelikes.

Cities: Skylines, but I haven't played it enough to know if I should recommend it or what its strengths/weaknesses are.
SimCity games, particularly 2000 and 3000, and maybe 4.

The problem with Cities: Skyline is that it's a resource hog despite not exactly being a supreme example of a modern game.

Really no tropico. I like were if you select to silence opposition you hear a gun shot and your pop goes down by one

I never really played any of the "simcity" type games. I've played games like Tropico and base builders like Rimworld and enjoy them quite a bit.

Most town/city building games are more in the vein of Sim City, where the bulk of the gameplay consists of figuring out how to manage your resources to survive while building your civilization, rather than a matter of relaxing and customizing how it looks. Animal Crossing is actually fairly unique in that regard. The closest I think you're going to get to that is construction sandboxes like Minecraft, though even then that's more emphasis on the building blocks than on stamping down premade decorations (unless you use a mod to create blueprints that you can plop down at will).

I recently started playing Planet Coaster, and while the focus is of course on the rides, you can decorate your park just about however you like. In fact, you kind of have to since the "scenery rating" around the queue lines for the rides affects how much you can charge for the rides.

Most city building games you have to build the city a certain way and if you do what you think looks best, it's not what the game wants.

there's lots of building games, not sure what you're looking for exactly though.

there's sort of Act Raiser 1 on SNES (half "city building" and half action-platformer). but everyone should already know about that.

there's a game on SNES called Utopia that almost no one has ever heard of. you build space colonies on strange planets, with some aliens now and then to negotiate or go to war with.

there's a PC game called Space Colony where you build a colony and have to make sure the people living in it don't lose their minds out of boredom or kill each other, etc. I think you also fight aliens in this one eventually but didn't get that far.

there's of course Factorio (PC) where you build an automated factory that could almost be called a 1-man city.

there's civ games.

there was an old old PC game from the 80s or 90s that I had once that had quite an environmental spin on things. but I think it was old and obscure enough that I'll never find it again.

Just started playing Industries of Titan and it's really fun. It's a sci-fi Sim City type game, but you can also go inside certain buildings and construct specific facilities and equipment.

This is the first I've heard of this and my interest has been immediately piqued. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

What kind of weird Twilight Zone have I stepped into where people describe Harvest Moon as being like Stardew Valley?

Because honestly this game doesnt feel like a harvest moon or song of seasons. Kinda like how rune factory was a spin of this game is kinda what caused the name change

And also its old enough were I dont know the age of the other players so I dont know if they even played the original and got eve propasal ready by taking her 500 flowers in one night. They may have never even seen harvest moon since it was renamed and thrown down the stairs were it mutated in to that popolocrox game
