The original series also involved supernatural mysteries, but the format was a little different. The original also had two movies. The anime Ghost Hunt also works, but unfortunately that's also fucking short because it only got the one season. Most of the mysteries are several episodes long. As for films, you have Master of Illusions. The episode "Cigarette Burns" from Masters of Horror also involves a supernatural mystery, a film that turns people into homicidal maniacs (the movie In the Mouth of Madness has a somewhat related premise and a supernatural mystery, but is campier) wolfy42 posted... While I never liked Bill, I liked most of the other characters and the series as a whole (Erik is one of my favorites). The books are very different but quite good as well. Well I wouldnt put it all in scifi. You know how American horror story asylum had demons vs alien sub plot. The x files caters to plain consperacy theory, alien, trangenetics, plain inbred rednecks, ancient evils, god, the devil, angels, military superweapons, and just good ole fashion serial killers. So yeah it was the creature of the week. Just make sure if you watch the first movie dont do it to around season 3.
