Which game is your game of the year so far?

Final Fantasy VII Remake for me but I've not played DOOM so meh. Still none of this matters as Cyberpunk 2077 is out this year.

What other games have released this year?

so far Ive only play Darksiders Genesis (which I loved, but technically it was released last year), Resident Evil 3 Remake (huge disappointment), DOOM Eternal and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

and I played a little bit of Persona 5 Royal, but that game is old with new content added to it. So I dont really consider it a Brand new 2020 release.

Animal Crossing and Nioh 2 came out. Never played them though.

DOOM is kinda underwhelming to me. I cant be bothered to play for more than an hour because its the same cycle over and over.

I think the speed and pace of the game works against it

I'm not playing it, but I'd agree that I've already forgotten (or at least don't care) about the other two.

But my personal money is still on Cyberpunk. Even if it only lives up to about half the hype it'll still do more for me than either Doom Eternal or FFVIIR does.

I dont like games like animal crossing and I played the first Nioh, but I havent finished it yet. So I dont think Ill ever play Nioh 2 if the first game didnt hook me in like DOOM or Final Fantasy.

I know Im going to get hate for saying this, but Nioh feels like a chore to finish. The only other Souls like game that Ive played was Bloodborne and I freaking loved that game and it had me hooked. Nioh though... I probably need to give it another shot.

I mean theyve had more than enough time to perfect it. It looks great. Im just worried its going to be one of those good-looks/bad-animation types. Wildlands is a good example. The game looks great but the vehicles drive like shit and you get stuck and clip under the map way too often. Hopefully when these things happen and get reported they actually take the time to patch them properly, in an isolated setting to test the patch before they just dump it on us.

This sounds like a terrible take. Probably from someone who hasn't even played Final Fantasy VII: Remake. While I've not played the original or completed the remake yet the story, character development, graphics and more importantly gameplay of Final Fantasy VII: Remake is spot on. It ticks all the right boxes for a game of the year candidate and is my game of the year thus far. This year is a busy year though so that could and probably will change.

Unless some how Cyberpunk 2077 really disappoints I see it taking GOTY. But I don't see that happening. Worst thing that could happen is it some how get delayed again and into early 2021...but lets hope it doesn't.

When they start making shit games. Cyberpunk might be bad and not even be a runner for game of the year but the world might end right this second too. I know what my money would be on if I'm a betting man. You being salty about CDPR for some reason puts you in the very small minority and for good reason.

Happened with each of The Witcher games for me.

I've only played Witcher 3 by them but to say that isn't one of the greatest games ever made is flat out wrong. Doesn't matter if you like the game or not. I hear the other Witcher games have good praise too. If a company has a good track record you would think the track record would continue so it's not unreasonable to assume Cyberpunk will be great. Perhaps you should stop focusing on what a fanbase is doing when you're not part of it.

I've only tried The Witcher 3 and didn't really like it at all. Love other games in the genre, such as Skyrim, but could not get into The Witcher 3 no matter how hard I tried.

I do not hate CDPR because of this. I just don't understand why gamers worship them as some sort of god and if you dare to say anything negative about them, you instantly get lambasted. They've really only made one (potentially another soon) game really worth talking about, whereas other developers, who have made more games, arguably of a higher quality, do not get the blind worship CDPR get.

Again they make great games and Witcher 3 was the highlight of this. The way they told side quest stories set a benchmark on what other developers should follow. Not unlike GTA 3 when they came out. That set the bar for what open world/sandbox games can be. Other developers get praise too. Naughty Dog comes to mind. They haven't made a bad game in a long time if at all. That's why I'm looking forward to Last of Us Part 2(another possible game of the year contender).

You've not played the game. Not only do you not understand what multiple parts means but you also don't understand what a reboot means. At least educate yourself before you come out with comments about a game you've never played.

It can be a reboot and a remake at the same time. Those things are not mutually exclusive. The Mummy movie with Brendan Fraser was a remake of the classic Mummy horror movie.

Scarface with Al Pacino was a remake that changed a lot of the story as well.
