This always infuriated me, I had worked with a girl and her previous job was a 911 dispatcher for 2 years. She said about 75% of the calls are people asking for phone numbers and treating them like operators. There were other various morons that would call if a restaurant or store closed before the time on the door stated, and beyond moronic shit.

So I hear a commercial on the radio today that tells these fuckheads that 911 is ONLY for emergencies, and do not call if it is not an emergency. What baffled me is they proceeded to say "For non-emergencies, call 000-000-0000" the zeroes being numbers I don't want to type out.

Why not make a 3 digit non-emergency number that people can easily remember? If you are stupid enough to call 911 to ask for a phone number to a business, you are too stupid to remember a 10 digit non-emergency number to call instead.

Didn't 411 information used to be a thing? Why doesn't it anymore?

Yeah, I've heard that ad. Probably the same one all things considered. Like you said, the number is a normal number and nobody is going to look it up if they think they have an "emergency".

Ive called 911 for a panic attack before and i felt like i wasted their time.

I cant imagine calling them just for info unless it was like "this person is dying what should i do"

When I was a teen home alone I called the cops because I thought someone was breaking into our house because they kept fiddling with the lock for over 20 minutes and looking around outside. Turns out it was our landlord (who my parents never showed me or told me they were coming) and theyd forgotten their keys.
One of the most embarrassing moments of my life but I do blame my parents for never telling me about them.

They should start charging these people by adding $300 to their next phone bill for the misuse of 911.

I called 911 for a hobo who said he had trouble breathing. When I told the operator where he was, she asked what he was wearing, and when I told her, she said that he does this a lot, and even though he's fine (relatively speaking), they were obligated to send an ambulance :<

Does a phone number for "there's a dead hobo here" even exist?
