We share a 2 bedroom, we're both men.

We both have girlfriends but his girlfriend is literally ALWAYS here and I'm tired of it. When the lockdowns started in mid March he texted me that'd she be staying with us for the time being because of her "anxiety" she's too scared to stay at her apartment.

One month passes and I didn't say shit. A month and a half goes by and I ask him what the deal is and when is she going back to her house. Nothing against her but I don't want a 3rd roommate. She's here when I wake up, she's here when I go to sleep, she's just always fucking here.

They got upset saying they have a right to spend time together through difficult times and I said that's fine, but she has practically moved in.

Staying a couple nights a week is one thing but to LITERALLY live here and only go to your own house every now and then is extreme. They're acting like I'm being inconsiderate for even bringing it up but I went off on them about the situation and how understanding and patient I've been. They apologized and said they'd dial it back.

That was a couple weeks ago.

Last week on Saturday my roommate texts me if his girl can stay through Tuesday and I said fine. Well it's already been 7 days and she never went home. I'm starting to slowly and slowly get annoyed and enraged at her mere presence at this point.

I feel like he's pushing me to be a dick but my boundaries seem to never get respected.

It's nothing against his girlfriend I just don't want her here ALL the time.

There's no excuse at this point for her to be here all the time. She has her own place. They're both over 30 years old. I feel like she's overstayed her welcome.

While that's his girlfriend, this is also a shared apartment and I don't want another person that's in the apartment 24/7.

When my girlfriend comes over she leaves the next day cuz we both have shit to do. When I go to my girlfriend's house I leave the next day and come home. I don't set up shop for the week or the month and occasionally go home.

I'm going to talk with him again about this and I know he's going to try to make me the bad guy "What's the problem man? It's my girlfriend we deserve to spend time together. Why is it an issue if she's here man?"

I'm tired of this shit.

im just gonna say man, i know some people can do it, but i say room mates are never a good idea. it can drive best friends to hate each other.

but eh ive also never really had a good room mate. i consider myself to be a good room mate, so maybe if i lived with someone more compatible but thats not exactly easy to come by. especially when youre someone who values their personal time

Had this problem in grad school. She was over all the fucking time. Roomates girl gave out our land line number to her [college] students too. I went along with it to be nice. I should have said something.

In the end they broke up anyway. She said she needed more space!

Call the landlord/apartment management and tell them your roommate is breaking the lease by housing a third resident. Usually one bedroom = one person, and having additional people living there is against the rules (buried there in the lease somewhere I bet). If it's not in there, then threaten it because surely he hasn't read the whole thing cover to cover like you can pretend you did.

If it's a house then oops, just keep pressing the whole respect angle I suppose

Did you discuss the arrangement with your roommate? He could be cool with it, so it might not be an issue at all. But if hes not cool with it and he explains that, then you would be a shithead to disregard the conflict.

Had to go do laundry at the laundromat because the dryers for the building are broken.

Was leaving the house and it seemed like no one was here I thought to myself "wow they finally went to her house after 2 weeks straight of being here" and as I'm pulling off I see this guy's fucking girlfriend coming into the house.

She left for a few hours just to come back.

I'm getting ready to blow. Not sure if I speak to them both directly or wait til it's just my roommate to discuss this, because this is bullshit.

Went thru a similar issue not long ago well before the quarantine stuff. Roommates girlfriend essentially living here kicking in no money, complaining about the people who live here all the time..shitty situation man. Hope it works out for you.

This would be my advice too, if shes staying there all the time theres no ground to stand on if they argue back. Just be as polite as you can about it, of course.

You're sending some mixture of message to them by saying shit like "fine" even if you've surrounded it with complaints and passive aggression. You need to take a stance and commit to it unflappingly.

I'm actually kind of in this situation, just on the opposite side to TC.

My gf had nowhere to go at the end of the year, I said come live with us, we broke up months ago and now she can't leave.

It's a 3 bedroom house and she pays 1/3 of the bills though.

The problem wasn't her staying over a few days it's her literally only going to her house 1 or 2 nights a week.

He welched on his agreement.

We agreed last night she's not to stay here more than 3 nights a week. I'm done being nice about it.
