Did deadlifts as my main lift today, 225 for 6 sets of 5. I'm actually so much stronger than before the lockdown thanks to that private gym I was using. I'm really glad to be back in the public gym tho since I'm going on my own schedule again and get 5 gym days instead of 3.

I need my belly to be smaller, I think my body might be in ketosis. When I work out I get a strange taste in my mouth.

My health has improved so much in the last 3 months, in March I literally got nausea from walking 1/4 a mile, now I walked 8 miles. Pretty insane how diet has improved my health. I can't wait to start my PT cert soon, that should improve my performance by a lot.

Dropped my daily calories from 1900 to 1600 ish +/- 100.

My belly is shrinking, my arms, legs, chest, back are all getting bigger. But the scale is barely moving, most recent weight was 179. I started at like 184 8 weeks ago.

But with this few calories, lifting heavy sucks ass. I really wanna get to like 170 or 165 and recomp for the rest of the calender year.

Otherwise youll end up hitting a point where youll start losing muscle for the sake of hitting a target weight, which isnt important unless youre cutting to get into a weight class for a competition of some sort.

Yea I posted recently on reddit about this and I also recently encountered the "whoosh effect". One post explained it that for the first 6 weeks of exercising, your body increases its red blood cell count and this can be up to a liter of blood which is about 2 lbs. Also muscle inflammation and edema from lifting can also cause some weight gain. Apparently studies show that up this can effect the scale for up to 6 weeks (3-4 weeks on average). But if you keep up with it your weight will start to decrease after that.

Regardless, I'm going to start measuring for fun because I'm actually consistent now and it'd be interesting to track this stuff. And second I'm just gonna trust the process. Unfortunately I have a few work related going away parties to attend this weekend. While I usually go above my calorie goal which is a 500 calorie deficit, I almost always stay at maintenance for those "cheat" days. Its very rare that I go above maintenance and if I do, its not gonna be with desserts, it'd gonna be with things like meat or cheese or some kind of food high in protein too.

I haven't been measuring anything other than weight, but I weigh myself every day so I can make constant adjustments as I go. I just kind of balance the number on the scale vs how I feel in the weight room.

E.g., Thursday felt easy even though I'm losing weight at a decent clip, so no changes. If I feel a little weak today I'll eat more afterwards

My left shoulder has been sorta hurting. I have impingement I think of my supraspinatus tendon. I've had it for years but if I do heavy bench press I feel it. And just today I felt a twinge in my quadriceps tendon. I just immediately stopped and decided to skip leg day altogether. Thats a valuable tendon that I can't afford to fuck up. Gonna wait it out and make sure theres no lingering pain. Rather be on the safe side with injuries.

A little disappointed. I thought I was on a better pace than that. Felt like a really good run as I was going. Still, progress is progress! 2:16 down, 8:36 to go.

Yeah, 145 x 4 seems good to me too. I only do 110 x 8. It still weirds me out so much that people are starting to check me out all the time now instead of ignoring me, but damn if it doesn't also feel amazing. Dieting is going better too and I can see my belly shrinking week by week, my chest getting really square, and my traps and shoulders are beginning to pop as well. My stomach is definitely the thing I'm most self conscious about now but it's getting better.

Good day today, felt really solid on most of my lifts, I did fail out on an extra bench set but that was 4 reps over normal. Going to ride the bike once it cools down some.

I should have been taking pics this whole time but I used to have panic attacks if a camera was pointing at me. Weight change since December 17th, 2019 is 324 lbs - > 251 lbs. I'm like a full 10 year old smaller than I was six months ago, that's absolutely mind-blowing. I'm more than halfway to my goal of 190 too, but I I'm gonna see if I can recomp at 210 and maybe just stay fuckin huge.

This dude always casually blowing the rest of us out of the water. This is like superhuman to me. On my very best lifts I'm considered intermediate level while this guy is like in the top 10 percentile. Impressive af.

One of my friends is your height and was super skinny. Originally, her only goal was to be able to pick up 100lbs. She's since achieved that goal and then some and has really enjoyed no longer needing help with so many things. Lots of us take doing things like that for granted, but she's noticed a pretty big difference in her life. Being a strong chick has a lot of every day advantages too.

My weekend was fucked, ate so bad, complete pigging out both days, soda, cookies, sweets, beer, fried foods, etc.

I think today is the last day of eating poorly, but today I wont eat any sweets, soda. Will just have my main dishes and maybe a beer. Then my wife's friend leaves and I'm back to my original diet.

Then on wednesday I start nights for 4 nights in a row lol. Part of the reason I'm choosing to deload this week. As long as I sleep well during the day and dont eat poorly at night, I'll be okay and back on track by the end of the night shift. Weight ended up getting to 179 but now I'm at like 183 I think with water weight lol.

Just finished one of the best workouts I had in ages. I ate like a pig most of last week so I figured I should try and add weight to compensate a bit. Every lift had an increase of 5-10lbs. Im sore as shit atm but thrilled.

Im especially psyched about my dumbell bench press numbers. I had plateaud and been stuck for a long time simply because I couldn't get the weights in position without a spotter. Added 5 lbs on each db and had no problem. I felt like I should be able to get another 5 up there too. I'll try that next week.

I got 3 things on my wishlist:
Row machine (for cardio)
Bowflex 90lb adjustable dumbells
Dips station

The row machine and dips station are only a few hundred bucks total. I just wanna prove to myself that I can be consistent. I started lifting in April of this year. I've been going 2 months strong. I think if I make it to the end of the year, that'll be 8 months of consistency. At that point I will buy em. Just dont want to invest in more exercise equipment if Im not gonna be consistent. The dumbells are expensive AF. If I can stay consistent for 1 whole year, I think that'll be my birthday gift to myself next year (june 2021)
