Going to walk 2 miles today. Figured I'd just go pick up my dads medicine in person, it's a beautiful day out and the pharmacy is only a 40 minute walk away.

Nice man, hope your dad is holding up alright

Man I should call my parents

High five?
:(

Man I'm out of shape. It's refreshing looking in the mirror and seeing my body at work though, my belly fat isn't as big looking then. Can't wait to get a proper routine going again, the first few workouts are always the hardest.

My progress on my bike has really stalled this month. One thing about tracking this is that I can see the trade off between cardio and weights; when I had my bike distance here, I was really struggling to add weight to the bar. This month has been the opposite

I've been struggling with how to track my lifts consistently over time considering how 531 works. The program use different weight and sets over the course of three weeks, but each workout has an "as many reps as possible" set which I decided I'd use to calculate a 1rm each week.

As you can see, it isn't perfect but it gives me a rough idea of how my strength is progressing over time and let's me see my weak points (my ohp really hasn't budged at all)

Mediocre workout today
I seemed to have strained my shoulders/neck some on my awesome Monday workout. It's something that will feel better in a couple of days but it's awkward sleeping atm. Felt relatively good while upright and lifting but I felt that it's better not to chance hurting it more. Threw around my normal weight but I definitely could've forced through a couple extra reps if I was at 100%. Minorly disappointed leaving those reps behind.

Ive been consistently biking nearly everyday for the last few weeks, and today is the furthest Ive gone. I literally had not exercised for over an entire decade. Nothing at all, unless you count the two times I tried going to a gym lol

That's impressive! When I got my bike years ago, I took a ride around that length and barely made it back home. My legs were jelly, and I felt so sick to my stomach and dead that I curled into a ball in the shower. So you're way better than I was! I love biking. I like to sing as loudly as I can while I go, and serenade the people I go by. There's something so freeing about it all.

Just would like to say that I am proud of myself. 4 months ago I couldn't even walk a quarter mile without feeling nauseous and having to stop. A few days ago I hiked 8 miles. I'm doing so much better its amazing. I think my faith has helped me tremendously, 4 months ago is when I started praying and accepted Jesus christ into my heart. I have seen great things come my way since I have.

I am definitely gifted when it comes to running (my HS times could've got me onto a crappy D1 team) but it is still sadly a lot of fucking work!!

Your 5k progression has honestly been fine, i'm still insisting that nobody in the world can go from a 11min 1mi to a 16 min 3.1 in half a year like in that reddit post. I would look to take a minute off your time every month, maybe even more than that. the gains will start slowing down once you hit 20-21 minutes, but just about anyone should be able to run sub-19 if they continue training for it.

Way to go Harps! 10 miles is absolutely huge for a beginner. The difference between sitting on the couch and biking 10 miles is monumental. It's so awesome to hear that you are enjoying it, I think it's by far the most fun exercise.

Haha dont worry that was me a few weeks ago. I couldnt bike a mile without feeling completely exhausted. My gears were set to a much lower resistance, too

Biking is so much fun, I agree. While I dont sing, I like listening to audiobooks ^^

Thank you

Yeah why would anyone want to run if they could ride their bike LOL. Different stroke for different folks I guess. This is, by far, the most consistent Ive ever been in exercising and I think its because Im not forcing myself to do something I hate.

This has really motivated me, though. Now that Im used to carving out time to bike, I think itll make incorporating strength training into my routine a lot easier. I plan on starting that in the fall, or whenever my school gym reopens. Whichever comes first. Ill be back here asking for simple strength training routines when it happens for sure ^^

I got into running because I used to do cycling 60 miles daily and I've been in car accidents 3 times and had too many close calls. Drivers are not very friendly to cyclists, even law abiding cyclists that do hand signals. The most fun a driver has is to see how close they can get to a cyclist riding on a shoulder to scare them and to throw trash at them while riding. Also, riding that long and hard puts you pretty far from home, at least when I run the furthest I can possibly get away for the longest run is 13 miles at worst, for a marathon distance total of 26 miles. For a Century on a bike it's 50 miles, for a total of 100 miles. Makes a big difference, getting hit on your bike 50 miles out in the boonies and emergency services or family has to get you? At a minimum takes them 1 hour of driving to get to you. I feel much safer running than cycling.

Of course not to scare you off, I loved cycling and still do it, just indoors, but man do I miss cycling outside and going far. Sadly where I live I have no long distance bike paths, I have to take roads to do so. The best bike paths I have near me are...5 miles total and I already did the 5 mile route 10 times, you get bored fast.

Still on it. Feels like I made a little progress. It was slightly easier today. Any progress is better than none.

And as for my weight, still staying in the 209-218 range.

Feels good this time around, almost like I want to instead of have to. That's...different as opposed to about 7 years ago.

I've been doing Ring Fit on the days in between running, and it's pretty legit if you have it set to high difficulty. Just finished about 30 mins and it can get pretty brutal. Those over head presses and knees to chest doing them in sets of 30-40 5-10 times is harsh.

It only really helps for the first 10-15 seconds of an activity. When I used creatine I found it hurt my endurance, the extra water I retained weighed me down. In theory it should reduce fatigue, I guess it's hit or miss for some people.

I walked 2 miles today. Bought some gifts for my dad for Father's day.
