dammit I forgot about this one quest I never get right with Kofu[censor]ko, where one nopon suggests using rare ingredients but Kofu[censor]ko just wants cheap shit and you get a vision of the disaster that causes

so yeah that quest has two options, give the good stuff or the easily found stuff.......... problem is, you'll likely have enough of the easily found stuff already so the quest auto-completes that part right away and you're stuck poisoning the village

Oh, guess what I discovered. If you don't have the four grapes when you get the quest, but collect them later, the quest log progresses automatically and cuts you out of the other option, even though you haven't "given" them to [that Nopon] yet. You can't even get rid of them afterwards, because they're already removed from your inventory.

They REALLY didn't want you to complete this quest right, huh?

Alright, finished 5* affinity with Colony 9. Still need to do it for Frontier and Alcamoth, though I dont remember if its possible with Alcamoth until events happen later?

I know there's a bunch in Eryth Sea after those events so I'm not even bothering with trying to max it out beforehand trying to find someone I didn't talk to

Boy, there's really not much of a break between the onslaught of Frontier quests and the onslaught of Alcamoth quests. Well, unless you want to spend 5+ hours mapping out Eryth Sea. I made an effort. I did. But I just couldn't muster up the will to do it all a second time. I'll probably just chip at it here and there while doing quests.

It definitely doesn't take that long mapping out eryth sea, just wait until after all of the teleporters are working and all the islands are pretty accessible from different hovering reefs. Then once you've found every location the rest of the map fills itself in

I've always manually scanned through the maps in every run except my 3-hour haxxed speedthrough

... Tho the new map covering system certainly made Makna's ocean trickier to cover so I imagine it''ll be the same of Eryth Sea. I mean I greatly prefer it now that the map unveils as you physically are within viewing range of the environments. In the past the maps were divided into squares you had to enter to unveil that acre and there'd often be little edges of the map you just missed even though you were super close you just missed the actual square.

... buuut for swimming regions it meant you could swim down the edges between two acres columns and cover a lot of map space down in a line but now you really gotta swim the full pool to cover it all........... if you do go through with this entirely unnecessary map coverage torture that is >__>

I wasted so much time today on that one Agniratha quest that called for 4 New Part Ss. The one time I want the enemies to drop the plain old wooden chests and they refuse to do so.

bleh, theres one Agniratha unique Im having trouble beating but the quest expires if I move any further in the story. not sure I want to sit here and try and grind levels to beat this thing.

Little bit I was able to play today I played as Sharla to boost her affinity with everyone and now everyone has at least blue affinity or better with everyone else (that was achievement #160)

Then also got Colony 6 up to a 5 stars, but still quite a few side quests to do. Almost all of them involving level 80 or 90 monsters

Yeah, now that I've hit the post game, it's a matter of figuring out which quests and stuff to do while i approach get leveled enough to take on the Level 90+ enemies.

IIRC, that Level 85 Unique in Eryth Sea made party affinity much easier to max. That said... it's been a few years and my memory is fuzzy, so maybe it was still awful... but definitely the quickest way to do it.

if not it's pretty easy once you get Reyn's final skill on his 5th skill tree

You can trade for as many love sources as you want. Problem is that the only thing you can trade for them is dropped exclusively by superbosses

Why am I even doing these sidequests? What's the point? They don't even give anything good for them. I spent over 15 minutes warping around the world just to get these damn items than have like a 3% chance to spawn in order to complete a quest and in the end it's like "Thank you! Here, have some random garbage as a reward"

I did a side quest and it unlocked another option for one of the character's skill trees so now they have 4 paths instead of the standard 3. I'm assuming each character has 5 total skill paths but who knows which quests actually unlock those for people.

I did another side quest and it unlocked another Monado Art! That felt kinda weird from a story standpoint that nobody seemed to care Shulk was able to unlock more Monado power.

But yes I wish they would just tell me which side quests are actually important because even the affinity quests are mostly useless.

You're right, but there's actually one way to "find" these quests. Quests that unlock a skill tree can only be initiated if that particular party member is in the #1 spot. So if you see an NPC with an exclamation point over their head, but you can't get that quest unless Reyn does the talking, that's almost certainly a skill tree quest for Reyn.

Not a great method imo (I always just look at a guide), but it's there.

Also, I wish there were better ways to earn AP and SP on par with actual Experience (the AP gems really aren't enough). By the time a character actually earns enough AP to max out all their Arts, they've probably earned enough XP to theoretically level their character to 200 or something.

You can get extra AP from Riki's skill that let's his Yoink steal AP. It's a pretty decent amount of AP too

just noticed there was a casual mode in the options. tried turning it on out of curiosity and holy moly they arent kidding. you can take down uniques 20 levels higher without much trouble

Casual mode in most RPGs is "A baby could drool on the controller and make it to the end of the game" mode. For people that just want to see the story, I guess
