Mostly been fine.

One time, one of them followed behind me for miles (I even turned down side streets just to not have her behind me anymore, but she kept following....) before finally turning lights on and pulling me over. Informed me my registration stickers were improperly placed and to fix it, and gave me a warning.
The end result was pretty tame, but it seemed pretty damn obvious she had been trying to find a reason to pull me over the entire time and that ended up being the best she could do.

Still far from a seriously bad experience, but it seemed fucked up that a cop would just decide to target somebody like that.

Yeah...don't give people sass who have power over you. Just treat them with respect and the situation will go fine.

I've had a few run-ins with the cops while geocaching. I just explain the game to them and show them the app and they let me go back to finding the cache.

I keep my head down and my nose clean most of the time, so I've had very little involvement with the police. Some number of years ago, the neighborhood terrorist had been tearing down the no parking signs on their side of the road and we reported it. The officer who came to the house was mostly professional, except for when I got out of a chair and he reached for his gun. He didn't actually pull it, but it still shows that they're way twitchier than they should be.

Yeah. There were a couple times I probably should have been arrested but miraculously wasn't.

I also know someone personally who is a retired cop. He had a little controversy where he broke a teenage girl's arm while trying to restrain her. It was kind of a big story here for a bit. It wouldn't have happened if she wasn't a fucking psycho trying so hard to resist. Anyway he's a super nice guy and I couldn't imagine him being corrupt.

Mostly ok, even when I'm annoyed i'm friendly.

Twice in my life I got stupid tickets that I should not have gotten.

Once when commuting from gilroy CA to San Leandro CA where my wife was in the hospital I got a ticket for going 5mph over the speed limit on the freeway. There were a number of cars in front of me (in the fast lane) going faster, I was actually the last in a line of cars. I told the cop that and he said he couldn't pull them all over. It was rediculous.
I did traffic school online to avoid my insurance going up and just paid the ticket because I was too busy to do anything else.

But that was nothing compared to the last one a few years ago. I was driving on a back street near the place I was living, there are no lights and it's pitch black. It's a two lane road, and this cop drives with his brights on towards me. I couldn't see the road or anything with those lights, so I pull to the right side of the road as much as I can.

He turns around behind me and pulled me over for reckless driving lol...which I did BECAUSE OF HIM. That one was hard not to argue about (I did mention his brights). Dude didn't care though. I should have fought it in court, but Id idn't and I didn't do traffic school either so my insurance ended increasing by about $20 a month and I believe that will last 3 years (The ticket was like $100+ as well. Net result is that annoying cop will end up charging me about $1000 because he blinded me with his stupid brights.

I've only interacted with police locally through work, no problems.

When I vas visiting Ottawa I got into a fight at a Denny's and punched some dude in the chin for headbutting me. The cops were very pleasant and completely on my side.

I'm guessing they may have had to deal with this guy before, he seemed a bit out there.

For the most part. My only bad interaction was when some friends and I were on a road trip. I was driving through Ohio on a night shift of driving. I got pulled over on the Ohio Turnpike for going 10mph over the limit. There were 4 of us, so 2 were asleep in the back. When the cop approached our car, he shined his light on the guys in the back, banged on the window and screamed Hands where I can see them, now! So he had a bunch car full of 20 year olds with their hands over their heads. Then when he finally got to my window, he just acted like a dick... stuff like Where are you off to thats so important that youre driving like a maniac? I was just thinking It was 10mph... just give me my ticket..., since it was the first time Id ever been pulled over in my life. Guess Ill add that both myself and the cop were white.

The only other time Id been pulled over, the cop was Hispanic. I was pissed at myself for being pulled over, but the cop was completely professional and polite. All other interactions werent really noteworthy.

I was at a party once, all of us of age. A fight breaks out between two guys because one found out that the other slept with the other's gf. So we call the cops. So the cops show up, pointed guns at all of us WHO CALLED THEM. My one buddy was sleeping in his car because he had worked ten hours outside in the sun before dropping by the party. He was struggling to wake up so an officer held his eye open and blasted him point blank with pepper spray. His eye then got infected and he had to take antibiotics to prevent permanent loss of sight.

Then one time we had an attempted break in. So we call the police. Since no one got in, they refused to send an officer. Five minutes later our neighbor's house was broken into, while my neighbors were inside and awake.

Not really.

Got harrassed for crying/hyperventilating due to an extreme panic attack as a skinny teenager and another time had them try to let a guy in who wasn't on the lease who we specifically called because he wouldn't leave/stay gone.

Hell the above mentioned guy later on was trashing my mom's house and threatening her, and they told her because he was on the lease they couldn't remove him and he had every legal right to trash the place.

I was asked if they could look in my backpack as they (reasonably) thought it was weird for a white guy in his mid 20s to be out walking through a middle class suburb with a backpack. I had no qualms and they looked. Nothing suspicious inside and we both went on our way.

Mostly good but a one that I just didn't think was right and another was a weirdo.

We had an far away football game so I was coming home late that Friday night. I had driven probably 2 miles from the school and got stopped by a state trooper. He asked me what was I doing out so late on a Friday night. I told him I was in band and had been at an away game. He told me the reason he stopped me is my outside tire had gone over the white line. This was a part of the road where a 4 lane turned into a 2 lane so it gets narrow....plus looking the next day the white line is double painted....there is actually 2 white lines, one older than the other. Anyway, he didn't give me a warning, I got a ticket that said I was driving on the shoulder. I thought that made me sound like I was much more reckless than a tire going over a line.

I got stopped once in a nearby town by a city cop. He said I was going 60. Lol, he stopped me at a top of the hill when I had just turned into the highway at the bottom. There was no way my old car could do that, but I didn't argue. I went to city hall and paid the ticket. A few days later I got a call from city hall telling me to come get my money back. Apparently that cop was not supposed to be patrolling that night, he had been suspended because he was stopping females for his jollies. The cop later lost his job and I am guessing it was for this type of thing.

yup mostly, the only negative interaction you could say is calling the cops while i was at a playground with my son to play after taking him to a car show up by the riverfront in a little town called renmark a drunk decided to take a piss in front of him in public when there is a toilet just 4 metres away it took the cops 4 hours to respond because they were in berri at an event. so when they finally got back to me and told me that they had just been to the park and there was no one there 4 hours had passed.

I've never had anything truly awful but I have been accused and searched in public with no reason to assume it was me. I've had some be really reasonable like when my mom absentmindedly cut off a cop and got pulled over. It was a super long drive and my mom was zoned out and the cop was very understanding.

Oh yeah, I also had some cop bug me in a parking lot once. I got to the grocery store fairly late, like midnight or so, which is when i usually did my shopping back then. When I parked, I stayed in the car to finish listening to the song on the radio for about a minute and a cop came by and was questioning me and accusing me of being there to sell drugs. I told him the truth, that I was just listening to the radio and he gave me one of those "uh huh, sure..." responses but ultimately he couldn't find any reason to give me a ticket so he let me go. While not really that bad, I definitely feel like he was a huge asshole for no reason.

I've had plenty of good experiences with cops. One time I was walking home way too drunk at 3am in the morning and he just pulls up on me. "Where ya headed?" he says. "Just going home. Been at a party all night and I'm gonna go crash cause there was nowhere to sleep." And he says, Oh yeah? You been drinkin? "Yeah, I ain't gonna lie. I've had quite a bit to drink." Where do you live? "Oh, just about a mile up the road from here. " You want a ride? "Hell yeah I do!"

And then I got in the back of his car and he gave me a ride home. I pointed at my driveway, and he rolled down the back window so I could let myself out. I shook his hand and thanked him for the ride.

Another time, I had a bottle of prescription sleeping bills that weren't mine. They were my sister's, she had given them to me. Also, she's married so she has a different last name.
I'm walking up the street minding my own business (again, it's late at night) and here these two cops pull up on me, get out and start askin' me what I'm doing and shit. They seemed kind of like assholes to me. Anyway, I figured they would just question me and see I wasn't up to no good and let me go, but then they asked if I minded emptying my pockets. And I immediately thought to myself. Oh shit, I'm probably gonna go to jail over these stupid ass sleeping pills. But I did just that. Emptied my pockets. Handed him over the bottle of pills that wasn't mine. Explained that my sister had given them to me and I only had them because I hadn't been sleeping well lately, and one of the cops even read the name of the medicine and almost confused it with painkillers that people take to get high. Anyways, they just told me to pour'em out on the ground and stomp them real good to make sure they were sufficiently destroyed, they stood there and watched as I did just that. They gave me a stern talking to about having other people's medicine and how this night could have ended a lot worse for me, and then went on their way.

I got a ticket once for not having a seatbelt, and neither did the other 4 people in the vehicle either, which he noted he could have also ticketed me for. But just wrote it out as the driver not wearing one so I feel like he was letting me off the hook a little bit there.

That's about it, really. I haven't had any bad experiences with cops personally.

My brother's wife got him arrested once because she went super Karen on a cop who pulled them over one time. So there's that. Does that count?
