All the shit you see on youtube and the news is the minority. Not just in terms of bad copd but in terms of literally what's going on. Most cops are dealing with drunk idiots, domestic disputes and bogus calls all day

It depends on where you live. I live in massachusetts so people are generally more educated. But even here people have a ways to go in general. There are people who speak out. In places like Minnesota there is probably going to be less of that.

It's a job that encourages bullying, retaliation, etc...

Generally speaking it's what people say. It's like psychiatrists. Cops too. They are trained a certain way so they are naturally stupid. Their live experiences or whatever. The average iq and actual integriyy of people is pretty low and it's not just cops.

I'm not saying they are stupid in other ways either. They go to school try to do good things with their lives. Some are good people.

There is corruption out there that goes way beyond what people can see. It's not just cops either.

the system is rotten to the core, and enforcing it as it currently exists is an unjust act.

I really don't get why people think this shit is so common. There's probably been billions of police interactions in the last twenty years. How many of them do people think end in complaints? I'd bet money if you took every formal complaint over the last twenty and multiplied it by twenty that it wouldn't even equal half a percent of all police interactions.

The biggest thing that probably impacts these perceptions would be corrupt stations and precincts. I'm sure that is quite a real thing that happens, spreading like a cancer to ruin a whole area's interactions with police.

I don't really care either as far as excuses. It boggles my mind when people can't recognize very basic things about what they are actually doing. I've seen it. It's ridiculous. Success is relative that way.

Most police are good and aren't trying to criminalize people. But even still. They have inclinations towards certain things sometimes that aren't the truth. Because it's how they are trained. And some of them are just lazy that way too.

Changing the world and actually being able to understand who people are too without being a total jerk is important anyways. When it's so one sided and people never realize things there is something wrong.

And for a lot of the police it's just what they do.

Cops do not defend citizens, they enforce the laws of the government. That is a fact.

So even if they are good they arent actually employed to protect you.

Because I don't. And I still think they should get locked up forever. And that I'm good at my job.

I'm not gonna expect people in other professions to do it.

Oh no, out of 1000 death, most of which were likely justified, a few bad people likely got away with something evil! That means the very core of the policing system is 100% broken because less than 1% of 1% of them did something really fucking horrible!

It's like people don't understand how large of a fucking country the US is. That's no reason not to seek justice for outright murder from police and fix systems under which they get away with said murder, but think fucking objectively about the fucking percentages for five minutes.

The cops cause more problems a lot of the time so don't involve them. It's no different than internet moderators. If they are sticking their noses where it doesn't belong it's their problem.

I have a lot of cop friends, but I dont deny they defend some shady shit. Like they all refused to speak out against the two cops who killed the six year old kid in Marksville, La, where i live. And many are mum on the Floyd murder, or trying to disassociate themselves from officers like that. I dont hate them though...I just dont elevate them.

And what about all those other professions that have wrongfully hurt and/or killed innocent people? Doctors, caretakers, teachers, etc. Their reputations are all gone?

What I'm saying is based on everything my uncle has told me, the non-violent cops excuse the actions of violent cops and think it's the civilians faults for getting hurt. "They weren't following orders, so what do you expect" is a direct quote about civilians who died. Its disgusting.

That to me seems to be the problem.

When they stop you, you are lower than them. They are a cop "doing good" and you are a "suspect" not a citizen to be protected.

This dynamic means there can be no good cop. Even if the cop volunteers at soup kitchens and gives people presents on Christmas, he still fits into this wrong power dynamic 40 hours a week.
