A hot 120 hours. A little torn.

It's definitely a better rerelease than Golden. The quality of life improvements for P4G were overshadowed by all the new story stuff being awful. Here, it gets a but intrusive sometimes, but other than the actual ending cutscene it's never terrible (that ending cutscene is completely ruined, what an enormous downgrade there). The bonus dungeon itself the final fight were super cool, though. Maruki is great.

Game is busted, though. Since almost all the quality of life was already there, they instead decided to add features that are basically game breaking. The worst offender is Ryuji's instant defeat ability for Mementos now granting full cash and experience. By December and even a good bit in November, this basically means you are literally never fighting Mementos enemies, and still repeating the benefits. I effortlessly reached level 99 in no time, and ended the game with over 6 million yen even though I bought everything.

My biggest issue was Akechi getting literally no send-off, though. His last words were "this helicopter is too cramped". Though as I type this they tease him being alive still in the post credits, as well as Joker still having the mask...maybe that's Scramble stuff? I have no idea what the setting or explanation for that game is.

I ended up winning it cheaper on ebay so I guess I will have it

Yeah the Mementos modifiers made it really easy to get overpowered very quickly. I didn't mind having plenty of cash, though.

I was iffy on Kasumi at first, but all said and done I liked the route they took with her. The end was weird, though.

I assume the ending was a prelude to Scramble, since it's a sequel to Persona 5. I hope a Western release date is announced for that soon.

I may be misinformed but I believe Scramble completely ignores Royal's existence and serves as a sequel to the vanilla game.

Real fail: even looking through the DLC you can buy, there does not appear to be a way to put Akechi back in his Casino costume.

Kasumi was lame until her story opened up, then she was pretty interesting

but the last palace was the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance dilema of.... the bad guy was making the better world for your friends anyways. I sided with him at first. The way they portrayed it and how it felt so fake and eerie was so good
