Sephiroth: Hello, and welcome to week 5 of the Smash Ultimate Fighting League. I'm your host, Sephiroth, joined as always by my co-host...Crono!

Crono: Although the quantity of matches may be going down, the quality only continues to go up, and that's why it is always a pleasure.

Sephiroth: And without further ado, let's get into the matches.

Heavyweight Tournament

Match 1: Banjo-Kazooie vs. R.O.B.

Sephiroth: This is the last match before the quarterfinals, and this will determine who faces Ganondorf next week. Can R.O.B. continue his unlikely run?

*R.O.B. comes out hitting hard and quickly racks up damage on Banjo while not taking a hit. Eventually, Banjo is able to get his offense going, but hes still lagging behind R.O.B. Then he lands a devastating side-B and nearly KOs R.O.B. out of nowhere. A Smash Ball appears, and R.O.B. grabs it. However, Banjo immediately nails him with his side-B again to KO him before he can use it (Banjo 3-2)*

Crono: Ouch, and just like that, R.O.B. went from being in total control to being behind.

*R.O.B. comes back and wastes no time evening things up, blasting Banjo with his side-smash for a quick KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: R.O.B. isnt about to let Banjo take all the momentum away from him.

*Banjo takes control offensively, hitting R.O.B. with some hard-hitting attacks. They take the fight off the side and both look like theyre going to fall too far down, but they both get back up. R.O.B. hops up above Banjo off the side and nails him with a meteor strike for the KO (R.O.B. 2-1)*

Crono: And now R.O.B. is in the lead!

*Banjo goes after R.O.B. aggressively, trying to rack up damage and get the KO as quickly as possible, but R.O.B. proves to be resilient and dishes out some damage of his own. Eventually, Banjo grabs him and tosses him off the side for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Its coming down to the wire here. Its still anybodys game.

*R.O.B. presses his advantage and persistently chases after Banjo, who keeps having to backpedal and tries to deal damage from afar with his projectiles. A Smash Ball appears, and Banjo is able to get it. R.O.B. tries to go for the KO as payback, but Banjo is able to get back to the stage and catches R.O.B. with his Final Smash to end the match (Banjo wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Banjo-Kazooie wins! That was a wild back and forth match until the end. You can tell they were both giving it all they had.

Crono: Banjo had the damage advantage, but that was probably largely due to the fact that he hit his Final Smash and R.O.B. never got to use his. The match may have turned when Banjo landed that KO to prevent R.O.B. from using his Final Smash after grabbing the first Smash Ball. Sometimes its just one moment that decides the match.

Match 2: Wario vs. Mii Swordfighter (Zero)

Sephiroth: Wario beat the real Mega Man last week, but can he handle the Zero clone this week?

*The two fight evenly at first, and then Swordfighter slowly starts gaining the advantage in percentage. The two fight off the side and Swordfighter launches Wario with his up-B. When Wario lands back on the stage, Swordfighter hits him with his up-smash for the KO (Swordfighter 3-2)*

Crono: Swordfighter looking good out there to start, which I always like to see.

*Wario starts taking the match seriously and pummels on Swordfighter to build up his percentage. Wario knocks him off the side and up into the air for good damage. Then he follows it up with his side-air to get the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Looks like Wario isnt messing around anymore.

*Swordfighter has some success landing his specials, allowing him to control the flow of the match, as Wario occasionally lands some hits of his own. Swordfighter knocks Wario off the side and launches him as he tries to recover but cant get the KO. Then he goes for the KO with his up-smash again, but Wario manages to hang on. Swordfighter launches Wario off the side and tries hit him with his neutral-B projectile to finish the job, but Wario is able to avoid it and get back toward the stage. Swordfighter jumps off and hits Wario with his down-air to try to knock him beyond recovery. Wario tries to use his up-B to recover and hits Swordfighter with it, bouncing him off the underside of the stage for a KO. However, Wario wasnt able to get back, so he falls down for a KO a second later (1-1)*

Crono: They each take the other one out, and just like that, its dead even going into the last stock.

*A Smash Ball appears as both fighters return, and Swordfighter is the one able to come down with it. Wario tries to stay out of the way, but Swordfighter is eventually able to hit him with his Final Smash. However, since he uses it from the far side of the stage, he cant push Wario out to end the match. Wario hits Swordfighter with a fully charged fart and nearly KOs him, but hes able to recover. Wario hits Swordfighter with his dashing attack and launches him out, and then he follows it up with his side-air to end the match (Wario wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Wario wins! Wow, weve already had two very intense fights to start off the week. That was anyones game up to the very end.

Crono: Swordfighter made a couple of critical mistakes. Probably the worst one was letting himself get caught by Warios up-B when he was clearly not going to make it back to the stage. The second was not optimizing the effectiveness of his Final Smash. Swordfighter had the percentage advantage, but his peak percentage was a mere 103%.

Match 3: Bowser vs. Simon Belmont

Sephiroth: Simon slayed one monster last week, but can he slay the biggest one of all?

*Bowser comes out hitting hard, but Simon knocks Bowser off the side quickly and then uses his projectiles to start building percentage. Bowser has trouble dodging Simons projectiles because of their different properties. Simon throws Bowser off the side and nearly KOs him, but he gets back. Simon keeps pelting Bowser with his projectiles and follows it with an up-air for a near KO. Simon has a massive percentage advantage, but Bowsers sheer size enables him to stay in the fight. Eventually, Simon hits Bowser with his side-smash to KO him at 200% (Simon 3-2)*

Crono: Simon is giving it all hes got out there, and its taking every ounce of strength hes got.

*Bowser comes out swinging, but hes still struggling to handle Simons projectiles. A Smash Ball appears, and Bowser gets it. He immediately uses it to splatter Simon against the front of the screen for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Simon worked so hard to get that first KO, but Bowsers sheer power enables him to even things up just like that.

*Simon keeps Bowser at bay with his chain and projectiles, but when Bowser is able to get in, he hits hard. Simon effectively begins juggling Bowser by alternating with his projectiles, and then he hits him with his axe to launch him off the top of the screen for the KO (Simon 2-1)*

Crono: You dont normally see much juggling in these fights, so that was quite the sight!

*Bowser continues to struggle to close the distance with Simon to land a kill shot, and as both characters have high percentages, a Smash Ball appears. As they fight over it, Bowser takes advantage of Simons distracted attention to clobber him with his side-smash for a brutal KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Once again, Bowsers raw power is on full display.

*Bowser tries to crack open the Smash Ball while Simon is respawning, but with no success. As it goes up into the air, Simon quickly runs under Bowser and nails him with his up-smash to KO him and end the match (Simon wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Simon wins! That was an impressive display of fighting skill and proficiency with his projectiles.

Crono: Simon dealt nearly twice as much damage as Bowser, and it still came down to the wire because of Bowsers endurance. If Bowser had been able to grab that last Smash Ball, things may have played out differently despite Simon clearly being the better fighter out there.

Match 4: Ridley vs. Terry Bogard

Sephiroth: Ridley was an absolute monster in his debut last week. How will he do against Terry, whos on a hot streak himself?

*Terry repeatedly hits Ridley with his neutral-B and then nearly self-destructs with his down-B but manages to recover. Ridley keeps hitting Terry when he comes back and eventually knocks him out beyond recovery for an early KO at merely 50% (Ridley 3-2)*

Crono: Ridley picking up right where he left off last week.

*When Terry comes back, he keeps pelting Ridley with his specials. When Terry gets into the air with his up-B near the edge, Ridley jumps up and grabs him with his side-B and drags him off the side. Ridley is able to get back to the stage, but once again, Terry finds himself stranded beyond recovery for a KO, this time at only 25% (Ridley 3-1)*

Sephiroth: Its almost not even fair whats happening out there.

*Terry returns hitting Ridley with more of his hard-hitting specials. Ridley is able to slip in some attacks of his own, but Terry stays on the attack. Ridley knocks Terry off the stage, but while he looks to be beyond recovery, he narrowly gets back and hits Ridley with his special in the process. When he gets back to the stage, he nails Ridley with his side-air for the KO (Ridley 2-1)*

Crono: Well, at least someone was able to KO Ridley this week!

*Terry stays on the attack, while Ridley seems hesitant to go for the finishing blow despite his overwhelming advantage. A Smash Ball drops onto the stage, and Ridley gets it. He nails Terry with his Final Smash to end the match (Ridley wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Ridley wins! Another thoroughly dominant performance. He looks to be the one to beat in this tournament.

Crono: Ridley won the match in just a little more than two minutes, due to his ability to KO Terry at low percentages twice. Terry was very effective offensively, but he just wasnt able to recover from those early mistakes.

Middleweight Tournament

Match 1: Villager vs. Lucario

Sephiroth: Villager had a surprise win last week, but Lucario has looked like the favorite in this tournament so far. Hell be tough to beat.

*Both fighters battle evenly at first, and they quickly end up duking it out off the stage. They almost get trapped under the stage, but they manage to get back. They continue to trade blows, neither one getting a clear advantage. Lucario knocks Villager off the side and tries to land a couple of meteor strikes but cant quite hit them. A Smash Ball appears, and Villager launches Lucario off the top of the stage with his up-smash as he cracks it open (Villager 3-2)*

Crono: Uh oh, Villager takes the early lead and is in good position to extend it right now!

*When Lucario returns, he dashes straight up to Villager and blasts him with his side-smash to KO him before he can use his Final Smash (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Lucario was well aware of the danger he was in, so he dealt with it as quickly as possible.

*As the match continues, the two fighters stay evenly matched, trading blows and building percentage at roughly the same rate. They meet in the air and Lucario nearly launches Villager with his up-air. A Smash Ball appears, and Lucario gets it. He uses his Final Smash immediately to KO Villager (Lucario 2-1)*

Crono: That Final Smash is tough to deal with for anyone.

*Villager aggressively charges after Lucario to get a quick KO. He pockets a fully charged Lucario projectile and nearly hits him with it when he unleashes it a bit later. He spams his projectile repeatedly to build his percentage and then eventually nails him with his side-air for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Villager is a sizable underdog here, but hes fighting like someone who expects to win.

*Once again, the two fight very far below the stage, and Lucario repeatedly hits him trying to drive him down too far beyond recovery but with no success. They continue to rack up damage on each other as another Smash Ball appears. Lucario grabs it and uses his Final Smash to end the match (Lucario wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Lucario wins! That was his toughest test yet, but he manages to survive and advance.

Crono: This was a slobberknocker that lasted nearly five minutes. Villager dealt more damage despite taking two Final Smashes and never getting to use the one he got. Lucario having such a devastating finisher proves to be a valuable advantage in these close matches.

Match 2: Wolf ODonnell vs. Pac-Man

Sephiroth: One semifinal matchup is set, but who will take the first spot in the second match here?

*Pac-Man starts off fighting well and takes the early advantage. Wolf tries to land some big hits but cant keep up with Pac-Mans pace, who nails him with a side-smash to KO him (Pac-Man 3-2)*

Crono: Pac-Man is setting the tone early and forcing Wolf to adapt to his style.

*Pac-Man stays on the attack and keeps Wolf on edge. However, Pac-Man nearly self-destructs chasing Wolf off the side but just barely manages to get back. Wolf launches Pac-Man with his up-B but cant quite KO him as a Smash Ball drops onto the stage. Wolf tries to crack it open but knocks it off the side before he can. Unfortunately, it drops right next to Pac-Man, who breaks it open with one hit and immediately uses his Final Smash to KO Wolf (Pac-Man 3-1)*

Sephiroth: Tough break for Wolf as he stares down a seemingly insurmountable deficit.

*Wolf comes back swinging wildly and misses a few times, but then he catches Pac-Man with his side-air for the KO (Pac-Man 2-1)*

Crono: Wolf couldve just phoned the rest of the match in, but hes still giving it his all out there.

*The two quickly take the fight off the side, and Wolf hits Pac-Man with his up-B to bounce him off the underside of the stage for a KO. However, Wolf cant quite get back to the ledge, so he drops to his doom to end the match (Pac-Man wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Pac-Man wins! Just a couple of really bad breaks for Wolf right when it looked like he was going to get the break he needed. He wouldve been in a position to make the impossible comeback if he had been able to get back to the stage there.

Crono: This was a fast match, only lasting a little over two minutes. Pac-Man won despite only dealing 200% of damage, but the peak damage for Wolf was only 108% and only 129% for Pac-Man.

Match 3: Shulk vs. Byleth

Sephiroth: This should be an interesting battle between two characters who wield distinctive weapons.

*Both fighters come out swinging wildly with their weapons but cant land any big hits with them. They gradually settle down and start dealing good damage on each other. Shulk eventually crushes Byleth with an up-smash to KO him (Shulk 3-2)*

Crono: I think both fighters had some nerves early on, but Shulk looks like hes really settled down into a rhythm.

*Byleth comes back going for the one big hit. He uses his down-B for the power shot, but Shulk blocks it. Unfortunately, it shatters his shield, so he helplessly stands there stunned as Byleth obliterates him with his down-B this time for a vicious KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Thats the power of the ancient relics for you.

*The two continue to duel as a Smash Ball drops onto the stage. Shulk is able to grab it and catches Byleth with his Final Smash for the KO (Shulk 2-1)*

Crono: That could prove to be the difference maker when the fight is as even as this one appears to be.

*Once again, Byleth returns looking for the OHKO. He catches Shulk off guard by using his down-B in the air and unleashing it right on top of his head for another brutal KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Not much you can do when you get hit on the head with that thing.

*Shulk goes on the attack and keeps Byleth on the ropes. He knocks Byleth off the side with his side-smash and then jumps out after him, nailing him with a meteor strike to end the match (Shulk wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Shulk wins! That was a captivating battle featuring some unique weapons.

Crono: Byleth had the power advantage and showed it when he was able to land those big shots, but Shulk was more consistent and efficient with his offense, dealing about 100% more damage than his opponent.

Lightweight Tournament

Match 1: Jigglypuff vs. Captain Olimar

Sephiroth: Next week, one of these fighters will be battling for a championship. Who will it be?

*Olimar has trouble hitting Jigglypuff with his Pikmin early on, so he falls behind in percentage. He eventually is able to get settle down and getting his offense going. Jigglypuff tries to use his down-B but cant connect, so Olimar uses the window of vulnerability to crush her with side-smash for the KO (Olimar 3-2)*

Crono: Thats the nature of that move. Its all or nothing, so when Jigglypuff misses, she leaves herself wide open for a counterattack.

*A Smash Ball appears, and Jigglypuff grabs it. However, instead of using it right away, she clobbers Olimar with her up-smash to bounce him off the front of the screen for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Jigglypuff opting to go for the old-fashioned KO and save the Final Smash for later, and it paid off.

*Jigglypuff uses her Final Smash once Olimars invincibility frames wear off to deal some good damage. Jigglypuff stays on the offensive and prevents Olimar from being able to use his Pikmin effectively. Olimar is able to get in some shots to deal damage, but eventually Jigglypuff nails him with her dashing attack for the KO (Jigglypuff 2-1)*

Crono: And now Jigglypuff is only one knockout away from the finals!

*Jigglypuff tries to play keepaway despite having the advantage as Olimar tries to hit her in the air. He eventually nails her with his side-air but doesnt quite get the KO. He hits Jigglypuff with his up-smash but once again doesnt get the KO. Then he nails Jigglypuff with back-to-back up-airs to get the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Its anybodys game with a spot in the finals on the line!

*A Smash Ball appears, and Jigglypuff gets it. She uses it to deal good damage but doesnt get the KO. Olimar continues to pelt Jigglypuff with his Pikmin to gain the advantage in percentage. Jigglypuff rolls into Olimars up-smash for a KO to end the match (Olimar wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Captain Olimar wins! Our smallest fighter makes his way into the finals of the lightweight tournament.

Crono: Olimar went through a dry spell with his offense a couple of times, but he was always able to get his act together when he needed to, dealing 422% damage for the match.

Match 2: Rosalina & Luma vs. Isabelle

Sephiroth: This will determine who faces off with Olimar in the finals. Rosalina once again squares off with a female fighter, but can she finally cool down Isabelles hot streak?

*Isabelle starts off fighting aggressively and keeping Rosalina completely off her game. Early on, the Luma deals more direct damage to Isabelle than Rosalina herself does. A Smash Ball appears, and Rosalina is able to get it. Unfortunately, she misplays it by using it at the stages edge, so she does no damage to Isabelle, who nearly KOs her with her up-smash in the process. She grabs Rosalina and throws her straight up for a KO (Isabelle 3-2)*

Crono: Rosalina looks completely rattled out there. She needs to calm down.

*Rosalina is finally able to get some offense going, but she cant stop Isabelle from dealing some good damage of her own. Isabelle nearly floats under the stage and self-destructs, but she manages to get back. When she does, Rosalina nails her with her side-smash for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Looks like Rosalina has found her groove.

*Rosalina tries to play hit and run on Isabelle and it works for a bit until she runs into one of her explosive traps and gets launched. A Smash Ball appears, and Rosalina gets it again. She knocks Isabelle up into the air and uses her Final Smash in the middle of the stage this time. However, Isabelle is able to stay afloat above the stage and once again takes no damage. Rosalina launches her with her up-smash as she falls back down and nearly KOs her. Isabelle hits Rosalina with her dashing attack to launch her. She keeps knocking her back until a side-air finally registers the KO (Isabelle 2-1)*

Crono: Once again, Rosalina cant take advantage of a Smash Ball. That might come back to haunt her.

*Rosalina goes for the quick KO, hitting Isabelle with a few attacks to wear her down before blasting her with her side-smash for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: And now whoever gets the next KO will be headed to the finals!

*Isabelle goes on the offensive, catching Rosalina with her explosive traps and throws a few times. Isabelle launches her with her side-air, but Rosalina is able to get back. A Smash Ball appears, and this time Isabelle gets it. Rosalina tries to use Luma to knock it out of her but to no avail. Isabelle is eventually able to capture Rosalina with her Final Smash to end the match (Isabelle wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Isabelle wins! I dont imagine most people saw an Olimar/Isabelle final coming before all this started!

Crono: Isabelle was once again an offensive machine, dealing 451% damage to Rosalinas 314%. Her ability to completely avoid both of Rosalinas Final Smashes might have proven to be vital to her victory in this match.

Tag Team Tournament

Match 1: Donkey Kong/Diddy Kong vs. Rosalina & Luma/Banjo-Kazooie

Sephiroth: Rosalina just lost a tough match, but can she put it behind her and ride Banjos momentum to a victory?

*Diddy and Banjo beat up on each other early while DK pounds on Rosalina. DK knocks her off the side and she recovers with her up-B, but he jumps out to hit her with his side-air for the KO. DK hits Banjo with his tilt to launch him, but he hangs on. Rosalina knocks DK off the side and tries to land the meteor strike but misses. Banjo launches both DK and Diddy. Both of them are making their way back to the stage, but Banjo follows it up with a side-air to KO DK*

Crono: These two teams seem evenly matched early on.

*Banjo knocks Diddy off the side, and while hes trying to use his up-B to recover, his rocket barrels fly off and he drops for a KO. Rosalina gets her Final Smash and lands a full strike on DK, but his percentage is too low to KO him. This also activates his Final Smash, which he holds onto for a while. Diddy launches Banjo, which then activates his Final Smash. When he gets back to the stage, he nails Diddy with it, but he survives and gets his own Final Smash. Diddy uses it right away and gets the double KO on Rosalina and Banjo*

Sephiroth: A seemingly endless cycle of Final Smashes works out in Diddys favor.

*DKs Smash Gauge runs out without him ever using his Final Smash. However, he jumps off the side and clobbers Rosalina with a meteor strike to KO her. A moment later, Banjo knocks Diddy beyond recovery for a KO as a Smash Ball appears. Banjo gets it and nails DK with his Final Smash for the KO. DK knocks Rosalina off the side and keeps trying to knock her back down with his down-air, but she recovers each time. Rosalina gets her Final Smash and nails both characters but only KOs Diddy*

Crono: This time, Banjo and Rosalina find success with their Final Smashes.

*Donkey Kong gets another Final Smash. This time he uses it, but he misses. Banjo nails DK with his side-B and launches him, but he manages to recover. Diddy gets his Final Smash and uses it right away, getting another double KO. Rosalina comes back and nails DK with her side-smash for the KO*

Sephiroth: Those double KOs for Diddy could prove to be a difference maker.

*Banjo gets his Final Smash and catches DK with it for a KO. Diddy launches Banjo with his up-smash but cant KO him. DK gets another Final Smash as Rosalina sends Diddy flying for a KO. DK finally lands a Final Smash, crushing Rosalina with it for a KO with only 5 seconds remaining. He grabs Banjo and throws him, launching him off the stage, but time expires before the KO can register*

Sephiroth: Rosalina and Banjo win, +1 to -1! Time just ran out on the monkeys at the end there.

Crono: Banjo was the MVP of this match, registering 5 KOs and only taking two. DK, Rosalina, and Banjo all dealt around 550% but Diddy lagged behind at only 350%. Rosalina, Banjo, and Diddy all took around 470% damage, but DK was way ahead at 630%.

Match 2: Inkling/Piranha Plant vs. Link/Cloud Strife

Sephiroth: Link has the home stage advantage in this one, but it hasnt really been much of an advantage in these tournaments thus far. Can he reverse the trend?

*Link and Cloud come out dealing heavy damage on their opponents, but Inkling and Piranha Plant dont let themselves get KOd. Piranha Plant launches Link with his projectile, and Inkling knocks him back up into the air so Piranha Plant can hit him with another projectile for the KO. Link wastes no time upon his return, blasting Piranha Plant with his up-smash for a revenge KO. He quickly follows it up by nailing Inkling with his side-air for another KO*

Crono: Some good teamwork by Inkling and Piranha Plant, but they only succeeded in making Link mad.

*Link gets his Final Smash but misses. Then Piranha Plant gets his Final Smash and catches both fighters, KOing Cloud and dealing good damage to Link. Inkling gets her Final Smash but opts to hold onto it. Link launches Piranha Plant off the side but cant quite get the KO. Then Inkling nails Link with her Final Smash for the KO as Cloud gets his own Final Smash. He catches both opponents with it for the double KO. However, Piranha Plant nails Cloud with his up-smash upon returning for a quick revenge KO*

Sephiroth: Death and destruction everywhere you look in this match!

*A Smash Ball appears, and Inkling is the one who comes down with it. She catches both foes in its blast, but she can only KO Link with it. Piranha Plant gets his Final Smash, but he cant manage to capture anyone with it. Link gets his Final Smash and sends Inkling flying with it, but she survives. Cloud catches Piranha Plant with his up-smash for a KO*

Crono: They just keep going back and forth!

*Cloud launches Inkling with his side-smash, but Piranha Plant catches him from behind to KO him as well. Piranha Plant nails Link with his projectile for another KO as Inkling gets her Final Smash. She catches Link with it for another quick KO. Cloud, Link, and Piranha Plant all get their Final Smashes as a Smash Ball appears. Cloud strikes first, nailing Piranha Plant for the KO. Piranha Plant grabs the Smash Ball upon returning as Link nails Inkling with his Final Smash for a KO with 15 seconds remaining. Piranha Plant uses his Final Smash, but Petey Piranha jumps off the side before it can do any damage*

Sephiroth: That was unfortunate because

*Its Super Sudden Death! Link hits Piranha Plant to KO him, and Cloud hits Inkling a moment later to KO her and end the match*

Sephiroth: Link and Cloud win! It was looking dicey for them for a while, but those late KOs allowed them to tie it up and win in sudden death. Its about time someone wins with the home stage.

Crono: And Link needed Cloud to do it, for sure. Cloud and Piranha Plant put up similar KO numbers, but Cloud dealt 125% more damage than he received, while the opposite was true for Piranha Plant. Inkling took as much damage as she dealt, and it was nearly the same for Link.

Match 3: Pit/Dark Pit vs. Pikachu/Pichu

Sephiroth: Trying to say all four fighters participating in this match is a mouthful!

*Pikachu and Pichu quickly knock Dark Pit off the side and try to drive him down below the stage, but his great recovery allows him to get back. All four fighters keep dueling off the edge of the stage, and Dark Pit tries to land a couple of meteor strikes on Pichu. However, he doesnt quite strike true, so Pichu is able to get back. Dark Pit launches both opponents with his neutral combo, and then Pit nails Pichu with a meteor strike for the KO. Then Pit follows it up with a side-air to KO Pikachu a second later*

Crono: The two Pits are working well together so far.

*Pikachu hits Dark Pit with his side-smash to launch him, but it doesnt KO him. However, Pikachu is waiting for him when he gets back and nails him with his up-air to finish the job. Pichu returns the favor from earlier by crushing Pit with a meteor strike for a KO. Pikachu gets his Final Smash but completely misses with it. Dark Pit gets his Final Smash and catches Pichu with it for a KO, while Pit simultaneously blasts Pikachu for a KO of his own*

Sephiroth: Will Pikachu ever connect on a Final Smash?

*Pit gets his Final Smash and lines it up to nail Pikachu for the KO. Pichu gets his Final Smash but also whiffs entirely. A Smash Ball appears, and Dark Pit breaks it open. However, he doesnt hit anyone with his Final Smash this time. Pikachu hits Pit with his side-air to send him flying. When he tries to come back, Pikachu hits him with it again to get the KO. Pit returns and hits Pichu with his dashing attack for a KO*

Crono: The two Pits seem to have an answer for everything the two Pokemon throw at them.

*Pichu hits Dark Pit with his side-B and launches him, but he holds on. Both Pokemon chase out after him, but its Pikachu who hits Dark Pit off the side to get the KO. Pikachu gets his Final Smash and actually manages to catch both opponents with it for good damage, but it doesnt KO either one of them since theyve recently respawned. Then Pit gets his Final Smash but misses*

Sephiroth: Wow, Pikachu finally hit with his Final Smash, but he still cant get a KO with it.

*Dark Pit gets his Final Smash and crushes Pichu with it for the KO. A Smash Ball appears as Pikachu launches Dark Pit for a KO. Pichu gets his Final Smash and hits Dark Pit with it for good damage. Dark Pit breaks open the Smash Ball and launches Pikachu for a KO in the process. Then he hits Pichu with his Final Smash for a KO with 5 seconds remaining*

Sephiroth: Pit and Dark Pit win, +4 to -4! That was a dominant performance by this team in their debut.

Crono: Both Pit and Dark Pit posted individual positive scores, which is a rarity for tag team matches. Pichu was a mess, only getting 1 KO and taking 5. Dark Pit bounced back from his early struggles to deal the most damage in the match.

Match 4: Luigi/Yoshi vs. Corrin/Robin

Sephiroth: Its the green team against the in team in this match!

*All four fighters are evenly matched early on as they rack up damage, but no major blows are landed. Corrin and Robin gang up on Yoshi for a while, and then Corrin hits him with his up-air for a KO. Yoshi returns and sends Corrin flying with an up-smash, but he hangs on. Then Yoshi gets his Final Smash, but he opts to hit Corrin with another up-smash for a KO first. He catches Robin with his Final Smash to KO him a few seconds later*

Crono: A solid one-two punch from Yoshi there!

*Corrin gets his Final Smash, and he blasts Yoshi with it for the KO. Robin gets his Final Smash as he launches Luigi, and Corrin follows up with a side-air for the KO. Then Robin uses his Final Smash on Yoshi for good damage. A Smash Ball drops on the stage as Luigi gets his Final Smash. Robin initially grabs it, but Luigi knocks it out with his dashing attack and uses his Final Smash in the next instant to catch both fighters and send them flying for a KO*

Sephiroth: Thats a potential game-changer. How do you let Luigi dislodge the Smash Ball with that wimpy attack?

*Yoshi grabs the Smash Ball and catches both opponents in it as well and sends them flying after dealing good damage. All four battle off the side of the stage as Corrin sends Luigi flying up into the air. Then he sends Robin up into the air, and then Corrin sends Luigi up into the air again. Robin nails Yoshi with his up-smash for the KO. Luigi hits Robin with his side-smash a few seconds later to KO him. Yoshi hits Corrin with his up-smash but cant get the KO. Robin returns and crushes Luigi with his side-air for a revenge KO*

Crono: That was a quick around the horn of KOs there!

*Yoshi catches Corrin with his up-air to launch him off the top of the screen for a KO. Robin gets his Final Smash and nails Luigi with it for the KO. Corrin gets his Final Smash a few seconds later but opts to hold onto it. Luigi gets his Final Smash and catches Corrin with it, launching him off the side but not KOing him. Robin hits Yoshi with his up-smash for a KO. Corrin tries to use his Final Smash but misses. Robin and Corrin bounce Luigi around and try to KO him in the waning seconds but cant quite get him*

Sephiroth: Corrin and Robin win, +1 to -1! I had no idea who was going to win that one as time ran out. It felt like an even match the whole way through.

Crono: And this was about as close to an even performance on all sides as it gets. Robin got 4 KOs while everyone else got 3. Yoshi was KOd 4 times while everyone else was KOd 3 times. Yoshi and Robin dealt similar amounts of damage, as did Luigi and Corrin.

Match 5: Bowser/Bowser Jr. vs. Kirby/Jigglypuff

Sephiroth: The puffballs have had great success thus far, but have they bitten off more than they can chew here?

*Bowser and Bowser Jr. surround Kirby and simultaneously hit him with smash attacks to deal good damage right off the bat. Jigglypuff hits Bowser Jr. with her down-B to get him for good damage. Kirby and Jigglypuff take some hard hits but hold on. Kirby gets knocked into the air and hits both opponents with his down-B on the way down. Bowser nails Jigglypuff with his side-smash to get the first KO. Then he catches Kirby with his side-B to KO him a few moments later*

Crono: Kirby and Jigglypuff are doing their best to hang in there, but the size disadvantage is manifesting itself early.

*Kirby and Jigglypuff start to get aggressive and rack up the damage on both opponents, sending them flying and nearly KOing them on a couple of occasions. Kirby sends Bowser flying with a side-smash, but this activates Bowsers Final Smash, who uses it to save himself. He clobbers Jigglypuff with it for another KO. Kirby and Jigglypuff get their Final Smashes as well. Jigglypuff uses it to launch Bowser Jr. for a KO. Then Kirby hits Bowser with his Final Smash to KO him at 210%*

Sephiroth: That might be what it takes to get the puffballs back into this match.

*Bowser Jr. gets his Final Smash and uses it to net a double KO. Kirby inhales Bowser and steals his power. Kirby tries to slam Bowser below the stage with his down-B without success as a Smash Ball appears. Bowser Jr. grabs it and uses the Final Smash right away, but he cant really do any damage because Bowser KOs Jigglypuff right after he uses it and Kirby manages to float around the area of effect*

Crono: Bowser Jr. gets back to back Final Smashes there. Kirby or Jigglypuff couldve really used that Smash Ball.

*Bowser launches Kirby with his side-smash for a KO right as Jigglypuff crushes Bowser Jr. with her down-B to KO him. Bowser gets his Final Smash and hits both opponents but only KOs Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff gets her Final Smash and uses it to get a double KO of her own. Kirby gets his Final Smash as well and hits Bowser with it for good damage as Jigglypuff connects with her down-B on Bowser Jr. again. Kirby launches both fighters with his up-smash but cant get the KO. Jigglypuff gets knocked below the stage by Bowser Jr. and gets careless as she floats for too long and cant get back. However, Kirby catches both opponents with his down-air and drives them down for a double KO*

Sephiroth: Wow, what a shot by Kirby.

*Bowser Jr. gets his Final Smash and catches Kirby with it for a KO. Bowser gets his Final Smash as well and uses it right away, crushing Jigglypuff for the KO. All four fighters basically started over at 0% with 30 seconds to go, so no serious KO attempts were made from there on out*

Sephiroth: Bowser and Bowser Jr. win, +4 to -4! The sheer size advantage was just too much for the puffballs to overcome.

Crono: Bowser especially was dominant, grabbing 7 KOs just by himself. Kirby and Jigglypuff were able to rack up some KOs of their own, so it wasnt like they were totally helpless. Kirby actually dealt the most damage of anyone, but Jigglypuff got KOd 7 times, many of them at low percentages. Bowsers peak damage was 211% and Bowser Jr. peaked at 186%, while Kirbys peak was 139% and Jigglypuffs was only 122%.

Free for All Tournament

Match 1: Jigglypuff vs. Falco Lombardi vs. Kirby vs. Lucas

Sephiroth: Jigglypuff and Kirby just suffered a brutal loss in the tag team tournament. Will they even have the energy to stay competitive in this match?

*Kirby tries to meteor strike Jigglypuff with his down-B early, but it doesnt work. Jigglypuff charges up her neutral-B and launches Falco with it. Kirby nails Falco with his up-smash and breaks the apparatus above the tower platform. Falco tries to meteor strike Kirby but misses, and then he hits Lucas with his side-air to launch him. Falco hits Kirby with his side-smash to KO him as Jigglypuff sends him flying with her up-smash. Kirby returns and nails Falco with his side-air for a revenge KO*

Crono: Kirby and Falco going at each other early on!

*Jigglypuff hits Falco with her down-B, which breaks the apparatus above the tower again and activates his Final Smash. He hits Lucas with a side-smash to launch him and then hits Jigglypuff with his Final Smash to KO her. As Lucas is trying to use his up-B to recover, Kirby drops on him with his down-B to bounce him off the underside of the stage for a KO*

Sephiroth: Kirby with the precision power shot for the KO.

*Kirby gets his Final Smash and hits Jigglypuff with it for good damage, but it doesnt KO her and activates her own Final Smash. As she uses it upon recovering, Lucas KOs Falco with his up-air. However, Jigglypuff uses the Final Smash too high up in the air, so it has no effect. Falco grabs an Assist Trophy, which immediately runs over and KOs Kirby with a foot stomp. Lucas gets his Final Smash and uses it immediately, and he nets the rare triple KO, which eliminates both Kirby and Falco from the match*

Crono: Lucas with the triple KO and the double elimination!

*A real and fake Smash Ball appear, and Jigglypuff gets the real one. She launches Lucas with it, but he survives. Jigglypuff tries to hit with her down-B, but she misses and gets punished by Lucas with his up-smash. Jigglypuff finishes assembling a weapon and blasts Lucas with it to get the KO. Upon returning, Lucas knocks Jigglypuff off the side and nails her with a meteor strike to win the match*

Sephiroth: Lucas wins! Hes just one step away from the championship now!

Crono: Lucas was incredibly efficient, getting 5 KOs despite only dealing about 250% damage and taking nearly 100% more. Jigglypuff hung around to the very end despite only getting 1 KO toward the end of the match. Sometimes its better just to fly under the radar in these free for alls, and it nearly worked for her.

1. Lucas

Match 2: Roy vs. Young Link vs. Pac-Man vs. R.O.B.

Sephiroth: Pac-Man advanced in his singles tournament while R.O.B. was eliminated earlier in the week. How will that affect their performances here?

*Young Link takes a beating early and eventually breaks the apparatus above the tower platform from bouncing off of it too many times. A fake Smash Ball appears, and the other three characters get caught by the explosion. R.O.B. gets the club and fully charges it in an attempt to wipe out the other fighters, but they hold on. Someone grabs an Assist Trophy and Knuckles appears. He charges at Young Link and KOs him with an uppercut. R.O.B. knocks Pac-Man off the side and Roy chases after him, but Pac-Man KOs Roy with his up-B as he attempts to recover. Then R.O.B. clobbers Pac-Man with a direct shot from the club to KO him*

Crono: Nice to see a fellow redhead make an appearance!

*Pac-Man drops a fire hydrant onto R.O.B. and nearly KOs him with it, but this activates his Final Smash. Pac-Man also gets his Final Smash and strikes first, hitting R.O.B. with it a few times for the KO. Roy gets his Final Smash and strikes true, launching Pac-Man for the KO. Young Link also gets his Final Smash but misses when he tries to use it. A real and fake Smash Ball appear. The fake one is broken first, and the explosion KOs Roy. R.O.B. gets the real Smash Ball and tries to take out Young Link with it, but he manages to dodge it*

Sephiroth: You gotta be able to tell which one is the genuine article in a situation like that.

*Pac-Man grabs the hammer and KOs both Young Link and R.O.B. with it. He hits Roy with it once, but he manages to survive. Pac-Man gets his Final Smash, and he scores a triple KO to win the match*

Sephiroth: Pac-Man wins! He was a one-man wrecking crew at the end there.

Crono: Between the hammer and the Final Smashes, Pac-Man was hard to stop, scoring 7 total KOs and nearly 600% of damage. This isnt the first time that Roy has mightily struggled, only dealing 180% damage and getting no KOs. He seems to be boom or bust when hes out there.

1. Pac-Man
2t. R.O.B.
2t. Young Link
2t. Roy

(congrats, all you had to do was have Pac-Man winning to get a perfect score)

Match 3: Pit vs. Captain Olimar vs. Mega Man vs. Chrom

Sephiroth: Olimar has already made it to the finals of one tournament. Can he make it to another final?

*Chrom and Olimar take some heavy damage early. Pit launches Chrom with a smash attack and tries to follow it up, but Chrom uses his up-B as a kamikaze kill to KO them both. Pit sends Olimar flying up and Chrom launches Mega Man off the side, but they both manage to survive. Pit uses his up-air to send Mega Man up into the air and Chrom finishes him off with his side-air for the KO. Not long after returning, Mega Man hits Olimar with his side-air to KO him as well*

Crono: Everyone seems to be on even footing so far.

*Mega Man gets his Final Smash and catches all three fighters in it for good damage, but he can only KO Chrom. Pit gets his Final Smash and uses it to KO Mega Man. Olimar knocks Chrom off the stage beyond recovery and he drops for a KO as hes eliminated from the match. Olimar gets his Final Smash and uses it to deal good damage but no KOs*

Sephiroth: And just like that, Chrom is gone. His lack of range cost him big time.

*Mega Man rocks Pit with his up-smash to KO him. Mega Man grabs an Assist Trophy, and then he hits Olimar with a side-air. It doesnt KO Olimar, but he falls right into the Assist Trophy when he returns to the stage and gets KOd instantly. Pit also gets hit a couple of times for good damage. A Smash Ball appears as Mega Man gets his Final Smash. He traps Olimar with it for good damage as Pit breaks open the Smash Ball. He hits Olimar with it to eliminate him from the match as Mega Man throws an item, which carries a helpless Pit off the top of the screen to end the match*

Sephiroth: Mega Man wins! He got a couple of nice assists there at the end.

Crono: Mega Man was by far the most effective fighter out there, nearly doubling the next closest fighter in damage given. He also racked up 5 KOs. For the second straight match, Fire Emblem struggles as Chroms poor recovery is his Achilles heel. In his three KOs, his peak damage was only 88%.

1. Mega Man
2. Pit
3. Captain Olimar
4. Chrom
