I used to not care about it but now I tried to install crysis warhead and crysis wars on my pc and it fails to activate due to it not being able to connect to Sony's Securom servers.

Unfortunate that people who pirate the game don't need to worry about it.

Yeah and this Gamespy anticheat program the game loaded onto my pc is like malware. It complains at startup that it cant connect to their server and when I try to uninstall the option is greyed out. and deleting file folder is blocked because it has a hidden process I cant find. Now I have to start in safe mode to manually delete this turd.

Way back (like 10-12 years ago) after a Windows Update I could no longer boot into Medieval II: Total War because SecuROM would throw an error message. I had a physical copy of the game installed

like 6 months afterward, the game just started working again, but none of the HTML code in the launcher would load correctly

Had a similar problem with BF3 and Origin that also eventually ended up fixing itself

I feel like only these anticheat programs were developed by software engineers who smoke weed 7 of their 8 work hours and then half ass the rest of the time on what the dumbass boss thinks is beneficial for everyone.
