Im playing MHW on PC and its been kinda lagging at times. Its not my internet as its 800mbps+.

Last week it was running so fucking SMOOTH! Smooth as butter.

I updated drivers.

I dont know what to do. I dont know what it could be.

Try hitting cntr/alt/delete and checking your processes, look for something that is using alot, and then do a google search to see if it's required or might have a virus etc.

Another thing to check is your ram etc, some of it could be going bad, you can tell that by checking your system info, it'll show how much ram is actually loading.

If you have a GPU from NVIDIA etc they often have specific downloads for games, that might help as well (not sure on other GPU's as I have had nvidia ones forever).

It could also be a heat problem, there are a bunch of free programs you can download that will monitor your heat for you and let you know if that is the problem.

Other then that also you could do a search online for others with a similar problem, it could be something new from a recent patch from windows etc and have a simple solution.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. I used to be good at pc stuff and I can still problem solve most things, but i'm certainly not nearly as good as people actually working in the field now adays etc.

Sounds like an issue with System 32. You should try deleting and reinstalling it

Theres like 78 background processes and 92 windows processes. Those sound like sound numbers? Cause Im new to this but that seems high.

The number of processes doesn't matter. What you need to check for is things besides the game itself that are using 10%+ of your cpu, memory or network.

You should also try enabling an fps counter (steam has this under settings > in-game) and see what that says while you play. If your framerate is 60+ even in combat you're probably dealing with internet issues of some kind. If your fps isn't steady or is struggling to stay above 40 it's a pc issue, so turning settings down or messing with drivers is what you need to check on.

Game is off now, only steam client and task manager is running and it says:

CPU 3%
Memory 30%
Disk 0%
Network 0%
GPU 0%

Some of these numbers fluctuate, specifically the CPU which just went to 6%.

You should check while the game is running to be sure, but odds are your issue isn't caused by malware. Check the edit I made to my post above.

Yeah I was gonna say it's likely a problem with the software itself, which is why I suggested googling it.

And yeah you don't need to google every process, just any you see that are using alot of CPU power.

If your over 90% full try freeing up some space if you can, that may solve the issue right there, or even if it doesn't, it might help reduce how big of an effect whatever issue you have.....has on your gameplay.

Im 99.9% this is what it is.

Nothing has changed on my PC except for my kid downloading a bunch of Leap Frog and Roblox type shit. I dont have an issue with that but they download it to the wrong drive.

I have 2 drives dedicated to gaming. He or his mom, throws it all on C drive.

Am I making sense?

Yeah, I should have thought of that first, especially since it's an MMO (so it's saving info fairly often I think). Try freeing up space, that might solve the issue right there.

Yep, Windows defaults to C, and anyone that isn't computer-savvy enough to correct it is likely to just let it happen. You might want to try reconfiguring your browser to default to a download folder on a different drive, though you'll still have to keep an eye on it because other programs will want to use C first.

Probably should play Playstation 4.

It's not as important for Windows 10, but it's REALLY nice to have your operating system on a solid state drive if you can swing it. I would then ALSO put any current MMO your playing (or any game that your playing alot) on it as well. It's totally worth adding one to your system if you don't have one (and it's not a laptop). My laptop luckily came with one, so that is exactly what I do (operating system and game I am currently playing the heck out of, or any MMO I decide to play.
