Would you live in middle of nowhere for your current pay doing half the hours and still getting benefits?

Got a new job offer. Part time, still pays similar.

The place looks like it has very little work, I think Id be doing like 8 hours of work a week and then figuring out what to do with the rest of my time (Being there for emergency assistance is a big part of the job). Its in a remote location, like remote enough I dont think theres apartments but theres houses.

Idk, basically career suicide but also sounds like a good life.

If you are the type of person that has a list of things they want to do and even has hobbies then I would definitely take the new job.

If you are the type of person who just comes home and watches TV and plays games, and you live or die by pizza deliver or fast food you'll probably get really bored in a month or two and really miss the dining options.

I live in a similar area to what you describe - I have more fingers than there are apartment complexes here. Everyone owns a home and at least an acre of land. Makes for some very interesting demographics. Pretty much zero police presence here (occasional state trooper only) and the closes major medical presence is about 1/2 hour or 45 minutes away.

Hey Blu,

People differ, but I have always HATED having to stand around and do nothing more than anything else, also commuting is up there with that (even though I'm doing something, especially in stop and go, I generally am miserable).

Less hours is GREAT because it lets you do more things you want, but I would take more hours doing something interesting that you don't hate, over less hours any day. Also being far from everywhere has massive downsides even if you can find a place nearby so you don't have to commute (less now due to the virus, but still some).

My suggestion is keep the job you have if you enjoy/like it, if not, then doing this new job might give you more time to look for something else that you enjoy better.

Money is important, especially if you currently have, or are planning on having a family, but so is being happy with your life and fufilled with your work. To many people just settle and either don't care for, or hate their jobs. I thik it is worth it to keep looking and striving for a job that makes you feel good about yourself, and happy to wake up each day.

Especially if you don't have a family yet and want one, being in a remote location can make finding one much harder as well, especially in todays world with so much being done online etc.

Like I said, everyone is different, but those are my thoughts, no matter what, I hope the best for you!!

Good luck:)
