After coming out in support of Black Lives Matter this is remarkably tone deaf.

I get that it's missing the offensive extenuation of certain features. But still this isn't a good thing in the slightest.

Btw TC. Im not trying to come down hard on you or anything. We're all in the process of learning where the line is as people who can't feel it as deep as the people who are personally affected everyday.

Shit, I watched this Eddie Murphy movie like 5 years ago called Mr. Church and as a Eddie Murphy fan. I was caught up enjoying watching him act and walked away from it thinking "eh, that was pretty alright"

Fast forward to a couple days ago. I watch one of my commentary channels review it. The commentary channel is a bunch of middle aged black men that switch in and out. Anyway, they start bringing up how racist it is and how it has the "mystical negro" trope as it's main plot device. And Im just sitting there like "Holy shit...I missed all of that context when I watched it"

I've been into black culture my entire life and I'm constantly having revelations about how deep this type of stuff goes. Just gotta come to terms with being on the outside and always playing catch up. As long as I keep making an effort and don't avoid these revelations, Im not gonna beat myself up about it.

But then why have silver, yellow, and white logos and text dotted around the rest of the outfit?

Why does the mask need to look like a face with a nose and lips?

It's really towing the line during what is clearly a sensitive time in our history. And, just like the "OK" emote, it'll more than likely be appropriated by actual racists and used as such.
