Oh, brief thoughts on the Women's Tag Tournament.

Brandi is probably the worst heel ever. I have never seen a heel so bland and boring while actually trying not to be. She's supposed to be an egomaniac, but she's so abysmally bad at acting and her entire heel character is based around her action figure which she obsesses over, but it never plays into anything clever or fun. And for some reason she's the asshole in the team now instead of Allie? This makes no sense to me. And I've followed literally all of it.

Anyway, this match was okay. Best parts were when Big Swole and Nicole Savoy were in control, obviously. Britt Baker got involved and mentioned she could do a better job being a role model for Swole's kids and then Allie pinned Savoy.

Anna Jay and Tay Conti are still very green. Anna Jay said this was her 15th match of her life. Wtf. She's really good considering that. She mostly got beat up for the majority of the match. Conti still looks better than she ever did in NXT. Like, I feel like just these two matches alone probably taught her more than anything in the WWE PC. The PC training just seems so awful anymore, and they've failed to make any interesting stars except for like Charlotte. That's a conversation for another day.

This match was all about Ivelisse and Diamante, who looked absolutely awesome and the best they've both looked since starting in AEW. For real, they were a delight to watch and were as good in this match as their reputation precedes.

The problem is that they face Brandi & Allie in the finals on Impact. Ivelisse and Diamante should definitely win. They probably won't. My patience with Brandi's character is just absolutely cratered now. Putting her on Dynamite is a mistake and will just look BAD. For as green as Anna Jay looks, I would watch her any day instead of Brandi who just has the most go away heat now.

So the "random teams" tourney ends with the two actual teams in the final.

Worst Lethal Lottery ever.

And three actual teams ended up in the semifinals.

And at least they explained Allie and Brandi teaming up with Allie cheating to pair them up. And then after their match, Brandi going heel and talking about how she's the best all of a sudden, and Allie is more like a face since then.

Seriously if you asked me to explain the entire storyline of Allie and Brandi I would probably have a total breakdown over it by the time I finished typing it out.

Yes the actual teams should win. But there shouldn't be multiple actual teams in a lethal lottery tournament. That's the whole point of doing random teams!

Instead the only people in random teams were ones who didnt have a tag partner to begin with. And even in those cases I think everyone is paired up by face/heel alignment. So why pretend it is a random team tournament if you arent going to mix up any established teams?

That's why it's the worst lethal lottery.

Like honestly if they hadn't claimed it was random teams I would have no issue with the tourney and would be happy actual teams did the best.

But they had to claim it was a gimmick style tournament that I enjoy and then didnt actually do the gimmick.

It's like if they announced a falls count anywhere tournament but every pinfall attempt happened in the ring anyway.

Yeah, I never watched too much Veda Scott, but I always understood she was never tremendous.

But on commentary she has been extremely knowledgeable, really picks it up naturally, and is able to provide the facts that Taz and Schiavone don't. She's very welcome with Excalibur not around right now.

Also, Veda Scott just brought up Steve Mongo McMichael, so I mean. She's just great.

Renee Young is leaving WWE.

Good for her. They squandered her talent so much. She stood out in a sea of interviewers they turned into a vacant shell.

She excelled everywhere they put her in, but there's no stability in her position. I don't know where she'll end up but she'll do great wherever it is.

That said, the Talk is Jericho episode with her will be amazing.

Concerning JR, I like him on commentary. He has his moments like with Kris Statlander, but I don't think he's had flubs for a while. I think he's much better with Excalibur there though.

That said, I showed my girlfriend an Orange Cassidy match because she loves him with only seeing stupid images and clips I sent her and her immediate response to hearing the commentary was "Is that JR?" She hasn't watched wrestling in almost 20 years. I think JR helps to draw in a casual crowd--I think it will help a lot when the AEW adverts pick up during the basketball games on TNT.

Flubs are not my issue with JR. Not understanding the product or supporting certain gimmicks is the problem.

Let me be clear that I totally understand the complaints with JR. I think he has been a lot better about those issues, and I think the vast majority of the time he's fine to great. I probably wasn't clear, but I considered those criticisms a part of his "flubs". But for getting big angles and matches over, there's nobody better than JR.

Side note: Triple H during the NXT conference call dodged the fuck out of the Velveteen Dream questions and refused to answer why they didn't talk to the accuser, but that they take the accusations seriously, they just consider the matter closed now.
