AirPod pros have transparency mode with mics that pick up the outside sound and filter it into your speakers so you can still hear whats going on around.

Its a game changer and honestly makes me feel way safer with headphones on in public.

I tend to take my earphones out when Im in confined spaces/alone and its dark/etc. but otherwise the music is what makes me feel good.

I don't have my music anywhere near loud enough to stop me hearing the noise around me.

I remember some idiot last year had airpods on while driving an ambulance was coming behind him the 5 cars behind him got out the way and he didn't hear it at all instead I stopped and the let the cars on the middle lane change to my lane to he could have the entire left lane to himself the ambulance also changed lanes and got back to the left to make a left turn. Once the ambulance passed he looked surprised and then he proceeded to laugh it off and still kept the airpods on.

Ive never had that problem. I hear whats happening around me perfectly clear. Do you leave your volume at 100% or something? I dont put it above the halfway point

IDK how people can wear airpods in public, they are goofy as fuck lol tampons hanging outta your ears

I got a pair of true wireless jabras that look better, sound better and also have a hear-through mode I can activate by pressing a button on the left ear bud that amplifies outside noise so I'm perfectly capable of having conversations with people while hearing music

Thank god for true wireless earbuds, I just keep one and the other looks brand new just sitting in the case all day.

I got a friend who wears that in public specifically when he wants people to leave him alone. It's a big sign that says "I can't hear you, so don't try talking to me."

Through necessity, I developed keen peripheral vision, and I learned to keep my head on a swivel. Also pay attention to your environment, there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of reflective surfaces out in the world that can show you what's behind you without having to turn your head.

I have those little Raycon earbuds and they block out sound really well, so I keep the volume pretty low. My boss has those old wired Apple ones and his are so loud I can hear them halfway across the room when they're still in his ears <_<
