DarthAragorn 08/30/20 1:53:37 AM #3:	The basic premise of it being a sequel to a 34 year old movie with the same actors reprising their roles and keeping a very similar style, it just shouldn't work, but it does, and it does it so well I binged it all on YouTube TV in summer 2019 and I'm real tempted to rewatch it all now. I'm not 100% confident on this because I did watch the original movie a lot as a kid, but I think it explains enough for those who didn't see it to still enjoy it I say it because as of the end of season 2 they only barely referenced the second movie and have had no references that I know of to the third. My girlfriend hadn't ever seen the movies and she enjoyed the show a lot. There is definitely some references that would add to your enjoyment of it though. Daniel acting like he was going to do what Mr. Miagi did to heal him in the movie was pretty funny, there's an ice breaking scene which is another callback, etc. Small things like that that you would understand but if you knew the full reference would take it to another level.
