No way, Skyler was a much more interesting character. She was a bit naggy and passive aggressive in the beginning but she was also really clever and morally gray.

I've been watching this over the weekend. Season 1 was awesome. Season 2 so far has too much teenage melodrama for my taste (Sam and Robby get way too much screentime). I'm only on episode 4 and I heard the finale was good so high hopes. Best scene so far was definitely Johnny discovering the Internet.

There are parts from the second film that are pretty relevant to the story, but in either case the show does a recap of the trilogy followed by flashbacks whenever there's a callback to something. So theoretically you should be able to watch the show on its own without missing out.

As for Part III, I've seen it two or three times and for the life of me I still can't remember what it's about. Something about another tournament, and I think there were trees? They wanted to save the trees? I don't know, it's definitely the most forgettable film in the franchise. Netflix pulled it just as I was going to watch it, too.

All she knows is he is going through a midlife crisis. Questioning his decision making is valid. Shes playing a reasonable / realistic character, I dont get the hate.

Me neither, yeah she nags but that is what most characters of her archetype do. They make sure to put certain characters in check. She's not a perfect character, but a lot of the times she gets angry is for legitimate reasons.

S2E5 starts so great.

It shows that "toxic masculinity" can border on being empowering, and I love how the show explores those themes. Like yeah, hawk is a dick now, but you can see why he choose to be that way. It's not a defense of being a jerk, and it does show that most douchebag "cofidence" is just a coping mechanism for insecurity. But it also shows that it kinda works. It's a shitty way to be, but from an outsider perspective you may seem like you are "better". Or at least you would from a shallow highschool perspective.

It explores these kind of ideas without ever being preachy or annoying. And it is an interesting question, at what point is "badassness" just assholery?

And if balance and modesty truly is the best policy, why do i constantly find myself more compelled to Johnny than Daniel?

A well written show with interesting characters, good humor, good plot, and some interesting themes being explored without every being obnoxious or on the nose about it.

I chalk it up to the fact that Zabka is simply put, a treasure. Macchio is fine in the role and what he does, sure, but Zabka plays Johnny so perfectly as the lovable asshole and is more relatable in general.

The school fight ending was dark af, pretty unexpected

I just finished watching the Season 2 finale. The school fight was awesome, but I felt the ending was a bit too much. Where do they go from here now that they've upped the stakes? I guess we'll find out in Season 3 but I hope the mood doesn't get too dark.

And because I'm bored, and like ranking things.

My three favorite characters...
1. Johnny Lawrence. Just an all-around interesting character, multi-layered as there's more to him than meets the eye.
2. John Kreese. Just plays the villain role perfectly, lights up every scene he's in.
3. Hawk. These types of loose cannon characters are fun to watch.

Honorable mention: Amanda LaRusso. I thought her quips were funny, and showed just how ridiculous the entire thing was.

Least favorite...
1. Sam LaRusso. Generic, only purpose seems to be to stir up trouble and it's not in a particularly interesting way.
2. Robbby Keene. Poor acting, hope he improves in the next season.
3. Demetri. I can understand what they were trying to do with him, but they forgot to make him likeable somewhere along the way. It's hard to feel sympathy for such a dick.

Would like to see more of...
1. Aisha Robinson. It seems like she was going to be major character then they just threw her in the background. I also don't understand why they keep pronouncing her name as Ayesha.

Good show overall, Season 3 should be dope.

I finally finished season 2. It was great to see Robbie and Dimitri have their moments of triumph. Dimitri is probably the most relatable character in the series.

Johnny absolutely is by far the best character, he's just so fun and Zabka has done such an amazing job with the humor, keeping some shades of the original movie's Johnny and adding a lot of emotional depth to him

Time skip 18 months. Miguel is wheelchair bound but mobile, in good spirits. He doesn't blame anyone but himself, taking responsibility for fighting. Robby is on the run, afraid of being arrested. Miguel's mom sues Daniel and Johnny. Johnny loses everything, Daniel just a lot. Johnny, his car, and Daniel, his big house and cars and he has to sell his share of the dealership (Amanda owns 50%) and has to move into the Miyago-do. Amanda is in shock of this all. She divorces Daniel quickly, having forced an iron-clad pre-nup with a Karate-clause. Amanda and Daniel's drama throughout the season is Daniel having to sell his shares and that rival of his whatever his name, ends up buying his shares. The boy, whatever his name, moves in with her, and we only see him once a season when Daniel drops Sam off at Amanda's. Daniel tries to solve his problems... but without karate. And fails. He learns he needs karate but in moderation. He can't run a dojo. But Johnny can. Johnny must. Daniel has to become Johnny's sensei. Johnny of course has none of this. Season finale has Johnny opening Miyagi Kai Karate with Daniel's backing (recently wealthy after the sale of his shares of the dealership go through). Miguel joins Miyagi Kai, season ends with Robby showing up saying "dad, I need help" and looking in really bad shape.

A lot of good ideas in here. I think it needs more Ali though. The way they've been building her up I think she is going to have a big role in the story.

What is also very impressive is if you pay attention there is a long single shot sequence in the school fight right after moon says "can't we all just get along?". You might not notice it but I feel like your brain does, and it makes that scene even more interesting.

Also I didn't see any hidden cuts so it might actually be one shot.
