I know a lot of people that despise Trump but are so upset about the rioting and the call to defund the police that they don't want to vote for the left either. Anybody undecided, this could really sway them.

I'm worried that the left is actually harming themselves.

The protesters, BLM, etc, should be speaking out and saying en masse that the riots do not speak for them, but the problem is a lot of people are supporting the riots, and it's going to only alienate the middle. If we could all agree the rioting is bad, then maybe it'd be ok, but there's a TON of mixed messaging, and a lot of people say they support the riots, and BLM hasn't really made it clear enough if they don't.

I think this is, sadly, the best thing that could have happened for Trump. I think everybody needs to condemn the rioting, the looting, the burning, and take things back for the peaceful protests.

They may be, but he has been firm on being completely against it. That isn't something everybody on the left has done. I realize Biden has said he doesn't support the rioting, but the left is being seen as the party in charge of it, and I can understand why. A lot of people on the left defend and support it.

I understand why you say this, and I do think it's funny the idea when Trump says that there will be rioting under Biden, when the rioting is happening now under Trump. That's a valid point (that he's being ridiculous), and I agree to a degree. I used the same argument against my conservative father.

But on the other hand, it's also true that Trump is vocal about being against rioting and a lot on the left cheer it on. That is going to lose them the people that are horrified by it (a LOT more people than the people online seem to realize)

this is starting to make me feel like cops will do everything they can in terms of police brutality in order to have more riots happen. Look at the poor guy they beat up almost to death in GA for being a passenger in a Lyft vehicle that was stopped

Absolutely. The majority of people see through the facade of this is happening in Trumps America. Firstly, its happening in democrat run cities, and secondly and more importantly, these democrat run cities are purposely refusing help of the federal government to deescalate the riots because of partisan politics in an attempt to make Trump look bad before the elections. Its clear to anyone who isnt an ideologue of neither party, so the independents will vote for Trump as a result of these riots.

Historically riots result in Republicans polling better during elections. Take from that what you will.

except we've seen what happens when federal troops storm in to "deescalate" the protests and riots. they just go out, beat people up with impunity, shoot innocent people, abduct people, and generally instigate more violence. if anything, it's the insistence that police should have no leash at all that's the cause of a lot of what's happening. a push to make the police not commit brutality just sees a wave of police brutality
