I know about the big spoiler since it was leaked everywhere before the game even came out. Which is a shame but I don't know the context or anything so we'll see if knowing that ruins the story

And I know there is an ugly muscle girl in it who broke the internet by being unrealistically buff in a zombie wasteland. But that never bothered me. I mean one guy and one guy massacre like 1000 people and 2000 zombies single handedly and recover from gunshots by sitting behind a chest high wall. It's a video game fantasy land, realism isn't important. It's like people who get mad about the fact Goofy wears clothes but Pluto doesn't in the old Warner Bros cartoons. Who cares?

Other than those 2 things I'm going in blind.

Oh and I played TLOS1 and thought it was good. Did nothing new but everything it did it did well. IF that matters for anything.

Picked Survivor Difficulty, Permadeath off (fuck dat!)

And here we gooooooooo!

Start of the game is grim grumbly men grumbing grimly. Not the best of starts but I'll take it over Death Stranding since I've gotten to press buttons inside 2 hours :D

I didn't know about any plot details, aside from Ellie returning, going in. I pride myself with the ability to avoid spoilers for my anticipated releases.

Just make sure to explore everywhere before you move on to the next areas. They are some pretty good story bits hidden in it.

For me just visiting Facebook, Youtube, Twitter or indeed Gamefaqs lead to spoilers simply from the titles of videos, articles, topics alone.

iirc, the only real missable stuff is the skill books (they provide different upgrade paths) and collectables.

most of the other stuff the game gives you at some point.

They mean notes and shit. I got the vast majority my first blind run, like over 90 percent easily. But I missed 3 trophies necessary for the platinum so I did it again with a guide. Missed a bunch of coins and a few cards though which I why I used the guide.

Also you can't upgrade your weapons completely the first time through. Doing that requires a new game plus so don't stress about missing parts towards the end, your going to be around 70 percent upgraded at the most anyway.

be careful as there are many places where the game arbitrarily stops you from returning to a previous area when youre exploring

like they have big open areas, but if you choose a specific door the story advances and you cant explore the area anymore

also, replaying specific chapters is extremely annoying unless theyve patched it recently

I've learned to read one word at a time. I see anything close to what I'm anticipating then I look away and forget. It helps that I don't utilize social media as much as most people. I also clear cache frequently so that YouTube doesn't recommend spoiler video titles. If something is trending then I definitely will stay away from media as much as possible.

Spoilers still happen sometimes, but the most I've been spoiled for TLoU was that Ellie might be the main playable character over Joel.

They make it obvious the majority of the time. You have to hold down the button for like 4-5 seconds to open it. Whenever that happens the next room or sequence of events will block you from going back.

you can add them all up and it won't even come close to touching the absolutely pretentiousness on display in TLOU2.

you can practically feel the saliva dripping down from neil druckman's mouth as if he went and checked everything off his personal list of sensitive subjects like "the whole gaming community is gonna respect and love me after this masterpiece".

also, i haven't finished the game yet since the "second part" is a real slog. can't believe i'd much rather want they focused on an online mode instead.

they put all the gameplay variety in the first half of the game

second half is quite repetitive by comparison

They're reaaaaaaaaallly trying to make me feel sad but Joel and Ellie were horrible horrible people. It doesn't work. I don't care and am not invested in them.

It's like they've taken scenes or cliches from movies or other games and just inserted them into this story without comprehension of emotion ,character arcs or storytelling

RDR2 did it so much better, yeah it was slow and clunky as hell but they put time and effort and detail into the characters so you cared when things happened to them rather than the game telling you that you cared.

RDR2 spoilers:

Lenny and Sean's deaths and reactions were more emotional than Joel's and Ellie's and they were spontaneous

1. There's 2 performance capture actresses, one for her body and one for her face and voice. As such her face and body don't match and look weird. It's blatantly two different people imposed together

2. The complaint is that the body is unrealistic in a zombie nightmare world, not that it's unrealistic in 21st century rich white America. That "very attractive crossfit pro" body takes a full time schedule to build and maintain with work out routines and rest periods and strict dieting.

As I said the latter doesn't bother me but the former does. She looks like that scene in Red Dwarf where they stick Lister's head on some muscle guy. Just let the muscle chick be the face, even if not the voice.

It's a great game, just some things about the story may irk some people.

Anyone who complains about "realism" should realize realism was thrown out the window with these survivors being one-man armies and them proposing a vaccine for a fungal infection.

Yeah I think I mightve misunderstood, I thought TC said both Joel and Ellies deaths but he actually meant Joels death and Ellies reaction to it

Pretty much as it goes on the same statement becomes more and more true: I'm really enjoying the gameplay

But the story is assbutter

And it bugs me that I bet I'm missing half the collectibles due to the dead ends.
