i did ancestry dna. it said pretty much what i thought it would say

but yeah it was updated and my 50% philippines changed to 44% southern philippines and 6% northern philippines. which makes since as my mom is from the middle of the Philippines.

the other half is a mix of ghana, nigeria, mali, england, and ireland. slave trade etc.

I aint doing it in case they need to use it atainst me is some crime I may commit. They recently solved a double murder from 16 years aho because of that. He heard a voice to kill 2 pol and murdred a 6 year old boy and a lady at random. And now the guy who solved it with that is now training a special dna taskforce.

can't they track you through a relative who might take the test?

that's how they caught a serial killer in the US, iirc.

Yeah these are super popular so likely some relative (probably a close one) will have done one. And you can't control other people.

Oh yeah that's how they caught him here too. Also that reason what if my sister commits a murder or something. I know it's messed up but family is family.

I had mine done in college as part of an experiment. The ancestry didn't interest me as much as the genetic traits did.

I have one copy of the bad APOE gene which makes me likelier to get alzheimers disease when I'm old, and it also means at least one of my parents has it (and maybe my brothers)

I also am genetically unlikely to go bald, which I already could tell based on family history.

And I have fast-twitch muscle fibers.

Also it thinks I am likely lactose intolerant, but I think I digest it fine.

we have naming day ceremonies, where we present newborns to the public.

it's basically a party, with music, food, dancing, etc., where people submit names for a newborn. it's mostly customary, since the parents had likely already chosen their kid's name by that time.

and there's this one ceremony where the prospective groom's family tries to prove his worth as a future husband, and make offerings to her family. it's another customary thing, because they're going to marry anyway, but people seem to like it.

I was taught in genetics class that most people read these tests wrong

If it reads "4% Somali" you don't necessarily have a Somali ancestor, there's just a 4% chance you have Somali heritage somewhere at some point and a 96% chance you don't have Somali heritage and instead have something else

But maybe they've updated them since them

I honestly don't even know where the Albanian comes from. Low enough to be within the margin of error, but probably from my Sicilian ancestry (that I inherited little to none of) since Sicily had a lot of immigrants from all over the area over the years.

also do you yall know much about the actual ancestors part? It was easy af to trace my white ancestors because they were basically non first born tudors that didn't benefit from the English inheritance law and went to Virginia and etc. I want to know what African tribes I'm from because those areas are too broad.
