Love it, I can drive anywhere. Prefer driving over almost any other form of travel, even flying most times. Love it, especially in a nice car.

I don't mind driving. It's having to watch out for the dumbasses on the road that I don't like. I try to avoid major roads at all costs and avoid downtown like the plague.

I can't imagine what it's like in a major city.

I hate driving.
I wish we had better mass transit in this country. Anyone who'd rather drive in congested traffic to commute to work instead of relaxing in a train or subway seat is freaking insane.
Since I have no decent mass transit options available where I am, my goal for getting a house is to live like 5 mi. from my job and bicycle to work on any day w/ decent weather.

After taking transit when I first moved to Calgary before I bought my truck, I can completely understand why someone, most people, dont want to take transit.

I have a commercial license, so yes I like driving, even with all the bad drivers (and there are way too many of them).

I love driving.

i was very scared of it when I first learned, but my parents forced me to get my license. Im glad they did, way back when, because its one of my favorite things now.

i especially love driving long distances. I once drove 7+ hours without stopping other than for gas

Depends on the drive. I enjoy the winding roads through the canyon and I enjoy wide open roads where I can drive fast. Other than that, it's just something that I have to do.

My dislike for traffic is one of the biggest reasons why I'll never live in a big city. Driving around Calgary, which isn't even as bad as other cities with over 1,000,000 people, makes me want to bash my head against a wall.

Even worse than that is icy/snowy roads. Buying a truck with 4WD has made it more bearable but it's still an awful experience.

I'd prefer to live within walking distance of my work , but the 14 mile commute isn't too long.

It is boring driving these two lane Indiana state highways , where every neighboring county has at least two perpendicular highway intersections with the same gas station design and locally owned restaurant structure that look the same as the others.

It's terrifying watching idiots lane hop 4 lanes to the right in Indy , while passing multiple semis in the center lanes without seeing the other idiots doing the same entering from the on-ramp and lane hopping left. And I never see any beaters crashed along the interstate in Indy , its always the high performance or muscle cars.

It's not something I mind, but it's also not something that gets me excited or pumped-up. Driving is moreso a means to an end. I do miss driving after having my car stolen, though. But driving in traffic is one of my most infuriating activities; most people are idiots driving.

It's alright. It's very much a means to an end: I don't get any particular pleasure out of driving itself, but I like going places and doing stuff, which driving often helps with. I prefer biking when feasible, but that depends on weather, distance, available routes (even if it's a reasonable distance, I'm not going to bike it if the only route is a major road that's not bike-friendly), and cargo/passengers. If public transit were a viable alternative, I'd use it more, but very often it's a choice between a 15-minute drive or a 3-hour bus trip, thanks to how poorly my city's transit system has been designed.

I found that was most of London driving. Get on a major road, drive in a straight line for a while, get stopped by a train for half an hour because the city apparently hasn't discovered bridges, but otherwise just try not to get run over by insane wannabe hillbillies and/or suburban soccer moms in oversized trucks.

No, I get really bad anxiety. I can drive and I'll do it if I have to but my girlfriend drives 95% of the time. I had a pretty bad wreck a decade ago... someone drove into me at 45 mph while I was at a stop because they weren't paying attention. Ended up dislocating a vertebra in my neck. Then like three years ago cops pulled me over and smelled weed. I showed proof of my medical card. They then decided to take me for a blood test which came back positive for thc of course. So I got a DUI for being not high and possessing medical cannabis that I can legally own. I could have tried to fight it but if you lose you get a mandatory 60 days in jail, otherwise it's a 5k fine and two days of ARD classes if you plead no contest. So I got strong armed into that basically. And on top of all that I'm epileptic, and even though it's controlled I still panic on highways that I'm gonna lose control, even though it's been five years since my last seizure.

It's kind of shocking how many people in this topic are scared of driving. But considering that this is PotD, perhaps it shouldn't be. Regardless, if driving frightens you you probably shouldn't be behind the wheel. Frightened, anxious people are more likely to make mistakes than those who are comfortable in that role. So kudos to those who know their limits and let their girlfriends drive them everywhere.

I hate driving. It causes me tons of anxiety.

I was in 6 serious accidents in the span of about 2 months, one of which was my fault, two that were fatal (not the one I was driving for thankfully). It fucked me up bad, haven't been able to drive anywhere without sweating buckets since then. I keep extra undershirts in my car just so I can change when I get wherever I'm going.

I've always found driving to be incredibly relaxing. It can be frustrating if you're stuck in traffic or trying to get somewhere at a specific time and running late, but just sort of cruising at your own pace with no urgency is very chill.

I dont like listening to music and podcast of longer drives, though...

I lived near the corner of Central and William. The track coming out of the rail yard just east of Adelaide was less than a block away from me. I couldn't tell you how many times I got stopped for 10+ minutes by a train switching tracks, either right after leaving home or when I was almost there. I especially love that they'd do that during rush hour so every major north-south street became backed up by 3-4 blocks.

London (Ontario) has two such tracks in the middle of the city, and very few over/underpasses, plus a rail yard with multi-kilometer trains that frequently end up sticking right into the downtown area while they change tracks (with no regard for high-traffic periods, so huge trains during rush hour are a common sight). As I understand, there's another underpass planned for one of the major streets next year-ish, but I didn't stick around to see it come to fruition.
