Dude is way more male-implicating than guy, IMO.
People use "guy" when referring to inanimate objects, and chicks frequently address their female friends saying "hey guys" all the time. In general people refer to groups of people as guys, rather than dudes (unless they're surfers). I've argued for years that the word guy should just become the official gender-neutral term of English. --- ForestLogic alt. ... Copied to Clipboard!

first, in all cases, if someone doesnt want to be called that, common courtesy is to just not call them that.
beyond that, it depends. When I think of dude I think of it as an interjection, like the Dell guy. Dude! Were getting another Dell! Youre not really addressing anyone in particular, and in that case I dont assume its very gendered. but saying hey dude, whats up? Or directly using it as a pronoun definitely is gendered and probably shouldnt be used unless you know the person well enough that they know you dont mean anything by it. >_> --- #1 Kaiju Fangirl https://imgur.com/mptS9Qj ...
