I think it is incredibly insulting to recast a white character as a PoC.

"Yes we're sorry, we didn't come up with a original character for you. So instead, we're just gonna cast you as an existing character, but with a different skin colour."

Instead of creating a good character that would fit an actor who is a PoC, all they get is litteral hand me downs.

You're looking at the store wrong way. Their fictional characters in this kind of race swapping for representation literally affects nothing. Have you even considered that longtime fans of resident evil or even newcomers would like to see themselves represented, especially in some of the more classic characters that were predominantly white like pretty much all entertainment before people started pushing for inclusion? Because it sounds like you are only thinking about yourself and mad that a character is no longer white

not gonna lie anytime I see someone say shit like this I have to assume you pretty much judge everyone on their physical appearance. Likely girls most of all.

the personality is what makes the character. Unless a pivotal aspect of a character is his race or gender or something then it literally affects nothing. Its 100% shallow and makes anyone who says it look like a child imo.

Gatsby being swapped while remaining in the same time period and status? Ya, prob not a smart idea unless its brought to modern times. But Leon Kennedy or Jill Valentine or almost any other character in media? You gotta be joking to act like anyone should care.

Jill Valentine is ethnically half Japanese half French. So they are dropping that aspect just to make one of the main cast part black, which is lame.

And people just want the cast in an adaptation to look like the source material, I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with that, or really want something like that to go against the source.

There's absolutely no way this film will be good, and TC didn't post the Wesker casting but that one is absolutely abysmal.

yes, were well aware that people get mad at that just like people get mad at this. Humans are weird being all diverse in their thoughts and shit huh?

But then theres also this whole thing where Americas storytelling has been predominantly white, and by that I mean like 90-95% white for the majority of its history.

So yeah, from pretty much any standpoint you should be more outraged about 5-10% representation being taken by the 90-95% than vice versa. Even if being more outraged means not really caring at all.

Because minority actors have a harder time getting roles than white actors. Also diversity and representation for minorities is more important than even more representation for white people which are 90% of the roles in hollywood movies.
