They do pretty often actually. Depends on how big the move and the sell is really. There's that variant and there's the one where the guy isn't quite as dead, trying to get up and can't quite, and is helped to the corner.

Have definitely seen it a good few times though. I mean I haven't seen the match but it doesn't seem completely absurd to me that this could have happened. Like if he was lying to cover he probably isn't talking so much about not being okay-- he comes off as honest in that snippet to me but eh.

Well, he had to talk about not being okay because he was clearly not okay. They had people come down to check on him after. Really, the only part he's trying to dispute and/or cover for is being knocked out cold.

I keep trying to find the clip but I can only find clips of the aftermath where he's getting checked on by Cody and doctors. All of the clips of it the news articles posted have all been copyright struck.

EDIT: It's kinda a silly argument, anyway. Point is whether he was legitimately out cold or just knocked super loopy, he was clearly not okay and they took too long to actually check on him. He's fine, though, so it's not a huge deal.

Like he's clearly doing a LOT more than selling there
And he's out in the sense that if it was a UFC fight the ref would've stopped it there so in some sense you'd say he's unconscious

BUT I could buy that he was conscious in the sense that he remembers what happened and was trying to do stuff, and I could buy that was a planned spot to drag him because Blade having the quick sense to immediately rush to drag him when he's still actually moving (in a weird way, granted) after taking the leg drop isn't necessarily a given. Maybe he realizes mid drag the guy is dead but it's too late, or maybe he thinks this is the best way to prevent damage to the dead guy (dead weight drag isn't the best way to treat a guy who was scrambled but it does get him out of the way and it's not like it's bumping him)

Anyway I don't really think it's a foul or anything to be upset for in any case. At least not in how Blade handled it or how Reynolds conveyed what happened. Can't speak for the rest of that chain but those two seemed fine.

Well, right. The initial complaints were the ref or somebody at ringside should have noticed, but nobody ever checked on him and just let him try to continue when he couldnt. I have no huge problem with Blade or what hes saying now, though I do think hes trying to cover for them somewhat.

like said, though, I think everybody has said their piece on it long by now and they hopefully learned from it.

Speaking of tag titles, I updated my combined days spreadsheet (World + Raw + SD history) and discovered Kofi and Woods are now the all-time top 2

Booker T thinks Sting can still go and work a match with someone like Chris Jericho. His evidence? Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels at WM25 claiming there was "100 years between the two."

Except
A) there was 88 years between the two.
B) by comparison there would be 111 years between Sting and Jericho
C) Both Taker and Shawn, who had this match over a decade ago, are currently 6 years younger than Sting is right now.

Sting vs Jericho could probably be a decent match. They both know what they're doing in terms of maximizing results from minimal work, and Jericho is still working regularly. That's just about the only guy on the roster I'd give any benefit of a doubt to to have a good match with Sting though.

Jericho isn't what he was even a year ago in that regard anymore. That sounds like an absolute disaster with 2020 Jericho - I think Cody is the guy for that spot, but I strongly just don't want to see Sting getting physical at all

I mean in terms of physicality they are in no-man's land with Sting.

You don't want a 61 year old man beating up your roster, bat or not.

He also shouldn't get beat up (much) because you're actually trying to pay some reverence to the character.

And he sure as he shouldn't be wrestling.

Honestly I don't think he should be a regular character like they're planning, but with the ratings bump I'm gonna assume he's gonna be on the show every week at this point.

Weird enough, he appeared tonight on SD in a losing effort tag teaming with Chad Gable against Cesaro and Nakamura, in Gable's latest attempt at an inevitable tag team fail. Since American Alpha split up in 2017, Gable's had the following as tag partners...

The funny part was that it was getting him over... as a heel. They leaned into it pretty hard towards the end of his run, too.

What does that say to you? Does that say guys back in the day were more proficient delivering a DDT or a superkick than in this generation where things are evolving? I want some proof of that shit. I want somebody to prove to me that the changing of the wrestling business is what it is today and its making a difference. I say no. I told a kid the other day at AEW that everybody does the same fucking spot. All you guys go outside. You cluster up like coils. You stand there in a huddle, friends and foes together, side by side so you can catch some leaping idiot going over the top who never wins with this move. They are looking for the holy shit chant. They love to hear this is awesome. Its a spot folks. Its a trapeze act. I dont buy into that. The DDT is a great finish and should be used as such.

I have no idea how JR commentates on a show he clearly seems to hate.

The easy kayfabe answer to this is that as the move became more commonplace, everyone became more adept at learning how to minimize damage when they feel it coming

EDIT: I do agree with him about people getting lazy about dive catching psychology. I hate when zero effort is made to justify why everyone is in a cluster
