Any argument is unwarranted, because the entire movement of, you know, not judging people by race is kind of "in" right now. The reason movies like this happen is because white people actually have culture/history to draw from. When you read Tolkien, Dickens or Dostoevsky you can imagine you or your ancestors as characters in these stories. You listen to classical music and you imagine people who look similar to you composing and playing it. Most black people in the west were brought here by slavery. Most of black history is about slavery and only slavery. Most do not know which country they were even from as they didn't keep records. What culture black people do have in the west is a little bit of pop culture: contemporary music and sports and some entertainment. And if they do have black stories to tell they aren't as popular as European ones. So in order to for black people to feel "included" in western culture is to blackwash historically white characters. It never really works as it just looks off. It doesn't feel authentic and feels forced. But Hollywood is a dying industry that ran out of creativity a long time ago so this is what we get.

People find ways to complain about that too though. Jordan Peele does this now, hes literally doing the tell your own original stories with characters of color thing and plenty of white people are upset about that too. If you (the general you) just dont want to see anything but white characters you might as well just say that because the justifications people are coming up with for why they have a problem with a character being non-white usually dont hold up under any level of real scrutiny.

Not because she is a bad actress or anything, but she is about as Asian as a hotdog, she didn't fit the character at all.

I'll be honest; based off the trailer alone I have a plethora of issues, but only 1 is about race: Why do we feel the need to repeat European stories and put black people in them rather than just tell their stories?

Honestly; African people, Aboriginal people, Haitian; all have a rich culture with lots of history. Why is it there are no movies about them, but instead it's about telling them "our" history is the only history worth retelling through film?

Indeed, this is why it's ok to have adaptations where minorities play white characters :)

I too am triggered. Theres Native American totem poles, dream catcher and the non-Native kids play-fighting with war paint. The actors are not Native American or First Nation peoples. Its cultural appropriation of sacred symbols simply being used as movie props, its so ****ing disrespectful and I though Hollywood was past this. #HollywoodSoNonNative

Obviously in the real world where people historically have treated, and presently treat each other differently because of their race, one's race can influence their life experience.

However, last I checked the movie is completely fictional and race doesn't play any role in its universe and therefore isn't an important physical characteristic. It changes literally nothing about any of the characters any more than their shoe size.

Making sure every character was white would be disturbing. So yes, representation is fine.

It's almost like some races have a history of hardship, human slavery, and degradation, while one other has a history of dominance, privilege, slave keeping, and superiority and we have reached a point of humanity where leveling out the playing field and cutting down one a notch is a positive thing on society. But no, protect the whites even more, because "inclusion" as you put it in quotes is a bad thing. If this makes no sense to you, then the first word of this topic absolutely applies to your opinion.
