A few months ago, I bought the entire AC series on PC for $118. I had only played the first couple games years and years ago. I played 1 through Revelations and a good majority of their side content, and they were pretty fun, but I tried starting 3 and decided I needed a break. I I'll probably get to 3, Liberations, 4, Freedom Cry, Rogue in a little while. Then the rest of the series. Honestly, there are so many games, and I have such a big backlog, I never get AAA full price anymore. Just no reason to. Plenty of games to play in the meantime. It'll take me months to play the whole AC series, and thats if Im not taking breaks, which I will be. Honestly, it will probably take me 1 or 2 more years to play the whole series up through Odyssey. I'm not holding out hopes though. 1 - AC Odyssey was a fucking chore, on par with Fallout 4. It stopped feeling like a game and started feeling like a second job. 2 - The writing wasn't compelling at all - the individual side quests were pretty well designed, but there was very little purpose to the overall story itself. Point 2 was extremely disappointing for me, but it seems to be the MO for Ubisoft these days. The Division 1's plot was nothing special, but at least it told a coherent story about this terrorist attack and had you weaving your way through a post-apocalyptic NYC stopping bad guys and trying to unravel the conspiracy behind the attack. The Division 2? I don't know what the fuck the story was, and the timeline made no sense. It looked nice, but everything felt like disjointed events. Same thing with Ghost Recon - Wildlands was based on the research of legitimate academics and journalists who studied the operations of drug cartels in South America, and it was reflected in the quality of the writing, the world design, plus the gameplay itself was simple and straightforward. Breakpoint? It was just a bunch of dumb shit about drones, without any meaningful commentary about anything, plus they introduced an unnecessary convoluted equipment system and inventory management, AND the game shipped without an actual fucking ending. So I don't really have any hopes for Valhalla. Tbh I don't see an issue with it because with Origins and Odyssey the expansions have been huge, and putting them in the main game would have resulted in them being extremely watered down.
