Read between the lines and you get the truth:
The current Gen versions are shit. We knew it'd be difficult to make it work on base ps4/xb1, hell, Witcher 3 took a year of near monthly patches to make work correctly on consoles, and it still has some issues. Sounds like they don't want to deal with sales competition with a game that is coming out around their previous period, or they found some bad gamebreaking bugs in the base game that the current day on patch won't fix and don't want their review scores suffering along with their potential release sales and need more time to put the news fixes into the delayed day one patch. It has to be between these two because the game is already gold and the fixes can't be put on the discs already printed.
