I think my only major recommendation to you is to watch more Pedro Almodovar if you haven't already. That guy is legendary in my book, and I think you'd really gel with a lot of his themes the same way I do. He's able to turn the ugliest of subjects into something breathtakingly beautiful. Just about anything post The Flower of My Secret is amazing, so you can't really go wrong. My favorite is Talk to Her though. I also feel like you'd be really into Matador as far as his older stuff goes.
