The GOP for sure. Democrats, in typical cowardice, tried really hard to run from that label. Which is why it is incredible that they think running on the ACA being good will help them, when they instinctively want to run from it despite Obama being extremely popular with their voters.

you could also look at it as in 2010 after passing the ACA, the Democrats had a massive loss in the house, which effectively neutered Obama for six years.

Thats not true at all

Districts are drawn by equal population, not equal land mass

That's not what I said. The population in cities tend to be overwhelmingly Democratic while rural areas are more leaning Republican. For example a city of 700k people would have one district, but may vote Democrats 70/30 while a rural area of 700k people may vote Republican 55/45. Both result in one seat, but you can see if this is done across the US the Republicans will win more seats if both parties get the same overall votes.

Here's 538's example. A neutral way gives Republicans a 30 seat advantage. Even other ways of redrawing districts gives the Republicans the advantage (outside of Democratic gerrymandering)

IIRC, Democrats ran from the label at first before Obama eventually owned it and used the term in his 2012 campaign speeches, usually to loud applause.

"They've called it Obamacare. Well they're right. Obama does care!"

GOP who was repeating their branding of the Clinton proposal in the 90s as "Hillarycare."

Obama decided to own it and try and reclaim it but it was 100% a GOP branding and the polling differences between Obamacare and ACA kind of make that obvious.

They are going to lose both senate seats. Biden got republicans to come out to vote out Trump, but downballot voted GOP. If the Biden strategy is continued his entire administration will be as neutered as Obama after the mid terms, at best. There are huge swaths of the population who don't vote because they don't think the government will do anything for them, and demonstrably doing nothing for them and not even pretending to run on doing anything for them is how you get a country where people only vote on cultural issues, and when your government system favors smaller rural states, right wingers will win big if it is always about culture wars.

House race ads in my district went super hard on "Defund the Police" attacks from the right (as well as a bunch of state-level races that all share the media market). Got to the point where in the last two weeks the Dem candidate released an ad directly addressing it saying it was a lie and "of course I don't support defunding the police."

It was definitely the #1 message repeated by ads from the GOP and affiliated PACs. Second was LAW AND ORDER. Third was Pelosi. COVID might come in at fourth?

The problem is that if everyone gets Medicare, then even "those people" get it. Americans don't want their hard-earned money being wasted on helping "those people". If we want a single-payer healthcare system to pass, we'll need to find a way to make sure only good people with enough money are allowed to use it.

Democrats didn't even name this! Activists did, rando liberals took it over, and actual elected officials want nothing to do with it.

I will actually concede that it's a bad thing to run on as a slogan (even though I think the actual philosophy of moving money from police/military to people SHOULD be something you can sell people on) but the fact that dems are so afraid of just the name despite none of them supporting it is what doesn't make sense. They are so scared of being compared to these policies that they water down their platform and then have to deal with it anyways.

See also Joe Biden's fracking ban (he doesn't have one)

That's why I don't call them pro-life. Because they're not. They don't wear masks. They don't want to give food to school children. All they really care about is the sex lives of women. It's a religious thing and eventually the 'nones' will outnumber the religious because the younger generation is becoming less and less religious.

The Democrats nominated a racist behind some of the policies that have been devastating the black community, and whose vice president was a prosecutor and DA who directly negatively impacted the black community. And neither were offering a compelling vision to change their situation. To be confused why Trump got more of the black vote is absurd. Many of them are fed up with the democratic party taking them for granted. The nominees picked are a direct insult to the black community.

Biden was the nominee because the black vote favored him! You can argue about Kamala having a negative impact, but the black vote favored Hillary AND Biden in the primaries.

Biden absolutely demolished Bernie with the black community. That's the entire reason he was the nominee. Black voters over the age of 45 were his strongest support group and that's why he got absolutely blown out in all the early predominantly white states.
