Skate. i was in the top 300 for the first 6 months or so
also beatles rockband i was in the top 100 of the abbey road medley for a short while

It's really not that hard to be top 5% in any game if you put in some time and effort. Top is like top 0.01% to actually matter. I guess I'd say like, starcraft 2, just because I've never bothered to get good at an RTS.

I beat the then current world record at Joust, ages and ages ago. I got up to 6.7 million points. I figured out the timing to kill the pterodactyl, once you can do that it pretty much just becomes a matter of stamina. It took over 6 hours to get that score, which is a hell of a lot of time when you can't pause the game.


(The game doesn't look anything at all like this)

I was also extremely good at Mountain King and could make it all the way through Level 8. (Once you beat that level, it just keeps repeating). At Level 8 the giant spider becomes invisible and it is impossible to escape its web it you get caught.

At one point I had the 16th highest score on the Figure Scraping level of Turbo Dismount. I'm still in 125th place years later.

What are these backwater games you're talking about

I was the #1 ranked Sniper out of 16 classes for about a year and a half straight on the North American server for Pandora Saga, and wore one of the 3 Duke's cloaks for the month in our faction many times. It took the #2 Sniper 6 months to pass my ranking after I was banned for a year. I wasn't banned for cheating or hacking, just a mod with a grudge from another faction that meddled entirely too much in xfaction affairs...my ban was lifted when he finally got fired, and a month later I was right back to #1 and a Duke. I went out #1 when they shut down the servers and scrubbed all memory of the game from their website, but I'll also never buy an XSeeD game because of badly they mismanaged that entire MMO.

None. At best I am average. I play quite a bit of first-person shooters but lack the ability to react fast enough to see a target, aim, and fire. In the few seconds it takes me to do that, I am already dead.

starcraft 2

being good at rts is something i always idealize but i am not mentally equipped to be serral even with a thousand years of training

related skills would probably transfer well enough to other related games i enjoy, too

i play exclusively vs ai, and i am okay at it but i utterly lack the confidence to do pvp shenanigans

Halo or CoD. I was really good at CoD4 and in BO1 my k/d average was always between 3 and 4. Felt good. I had some matches where I broke even, some where I was like 32k/0d. Those were glorious.

Fortnite or dota2 based on the largest esports prize pools. top 10 is only dota 2 and 2 fortnite tournaments.

Plus you can stream both and make more bank.

If I can pass my proficiency on to new games of a series, then Mortal Kombat.

If I can't, then no; I'd hate to "waste" my proficiency on a game that people lose interest in after a year or two. Maybe I'd go with Fortnite instead.

There are 19 other 5% groups less with, depending on how this scale of skill progress... still win some and lose some

Yeah but about 50% of players can barely play any give game, then the next 30% or so just what most people would call average or ok. Of the pretty decent players, you rank better than like 3/4ths of them, but the top 1% is VASTLY better than the previous 19% and the top 0.01% makes the rest of top 1 look like they don't know how to play.

Again to put it into perspective, in league of legends, plat is the top like 4% of ranked players. That's not even counting the people that don't play ranked.

We got a lot of people making decisions as if this level of skill will make them a living at these games, but it won't. And also a fair amount of people just saying what games they have been good at it.

Wherever I could make the most money for the longest period of time. And would these skills be transferrable? Because being great at one game in a franchise should help with others, etc.

Well, I see. It also completely has to do with how many players actually play the game, when you look at an extremely competitive more factor, say, of 100 players.

Actually, that's kind of funny, because I called it more competitive when the proportionally less amount of players constitutes a lack of competition...

Yeah, I've just been leveling the new prestiges. I did Nova, Zagara, and Karax already. Finishing up Abathur tonight. And hopefully the mutation this week isn't a nightmare.

It also has to do with what you were exposed to when you were a kid, the earlier you game the better you'll be in stuff like platformres, shooters, racing, fighting games, i mainly played platformers as a kid so that's my forte, didn't play as much shooters because my pc sucked and laggy internet so i'm just okay in these games

Only charatcer I've fully maxed out so far is Stukov who is easily my most played commander (and my favorite playstyle has always been mass bunkers). Tychus is maxed p2 (got in there before the lone wolf nerfs, it was so dumb), Abathur is maxed P2 (second favorite playstyle so far), Dehaka and Alarak are maxed P1, Kerrigan is half P2 (current project, but I'm probably going to end up playing her P1 most of the time). I want Karax p2 but p1 and p0 levelling play are boring as hell.

Karax P2 is AMAZING. I wanted to brush up on Karax anyway since base defense comes in handy on a lot of mutations. But yeah, leveling Karax is a pain because his key levels are all so far away. I'm nearly done with Abathur, and I think I'll do Stukov or Raynor next.

I still have to buy the last couple of commanders, but I'll do that once I finish leveling all the other prestiges.

Stukov is super DUPER easy to level, by the way. My god diamondbacks are stupidly efficient, especially when P1 cheap. By second objective you can reach deathball status and all the micro you need is f2 moving away from the enemy. Mass diamondback has very few weaknesses and those are covered for by the P1 upgrade to siege tanks, which allow more rapid long range sniping of problematic units.
