Like of course it'll replace bottom barrel workers but it'll create more higher paying jobs as these robots will need installation, service, and maintenance.

People can complain all they want about automation but it's coming anyway.

Because a vast majority of those low end workers would never qualify to be a tech to work on them.

For the foreseeable future, i wouldnt worry about a burger bot taking anyones job.

They are going to be expensive and require working a lot of kinks out. Many fast food places wont even take the plunge and upgrade their stores image and pop machines, let alone getting a flipper bot that would take years to pay for itself. So retrofitting existing franchises is not a super likely thing.

That and one thing that existing stores will always need is a human element to interact with customers. Old people are afraid of technology, pure and simple. Watching them try to use a self order kiosk is comedy gold. how confused they get over a layout a toddler could breeze through. That and its hard to bitch at a computer when they fuck up and ring in their own order wrong. They much prefer to yell at the cashier because they had a senior moment and ordered something totally off.

If you want a fully (or close to it) automated food place, it would have to be built from the ground up as such. Appeal to the younger generation and be a testing ground for this kind of tech. Even in that case, its not making anyone lose a job or even have to change jobs. Its going to need some staff to be there when there is a problem and maintenance needs to be called, as well as that human element to make sure customer needs are taken care of (complaints, trash removal and cleaning (a sit down would be a bad idea for this, a window and go service would work better) and a crew to restock things.).

In other words, the people worrying about a big fat nothingburger.
