I wasn't comparing to American libertarians at all, just trying to distinguish what adding "libertarian" as a qualifier to "socialism" means. I get your point that the word "libertarian" has been co-opted by the right.

Edit: I realize my post comes off weird because I'm still working a little in the framework of American libertarianism despite as you say it being unrelated originally. That's just how it clicked in my mind on a conceptual level. I understand it is not a subcategory of it

oh, right, yeah, in my experience people who are adamant about "libertarian socialist" are just in it for the aesthetic of the words lmao. usually they're pretty pragmatic about how to actually achieve stuff

definitely not one of the lefty identifiers that causes an impulsive "not this shit again" response

Blocking Trump's horribly unqualified Fed nominations had been one of the only areas the Senate GOP had actually stood up to him (I think mostly because Trump accidentally actually made a good pick for Fed Chair with Jerome Powell, and he was able to convince GOP Senators that putting Shelton, Herman Caine, or Stephen Moore on the Fed was insane), and now Mitch is moving ahead with the nomination anyway now that Trump lost?

Looks like out of the 15 seats not called by NYT, either 3 or 4 (couldn't find the 15th seat...) are blue at the moment. That's the margin for majority.

I watched a Lou Dobbs interview with one of the Michigan whistleblowers that signed an affidavit.

He might be planning that, but they legally can't. States can write laws that allow them to select electors however they want, but all states have existing laws that choose those electors based on the popular vote in their state (except Maine/Nebraska with their weird district-by-district thing).

Bush v. Gore already held that the legislatures choose electors based on the authority granted to them by the federal constitution, not state law. SCOTUS did not overrule the Florida Supreme Court on Florida state law (by their own precedent, they defer to state supreme courts on matters of state law), but said that what Florida law said didn't matter under the federal constitution. So if those legislatures now ignore the laws they previously passed and directly appoint electors.......I guess that's what we call a constitutional crisis.

Trump has shown that he doesnt understand how our elections work. Hes reaching for any possible chance he has, and at this point thats his only real option. Not saying it will work, just that I believe thats his intent.

In theory, they could change those laws. Even weirder, since the Constitution specifically says the state legislatures are in charge of picking electors, there's a legit argument they could do that even if their governors vetoed such changes.

If the GOP actually tries to go the route of having state legislators ignore the vote in their state and try to give the electoral votes to Trump that's basically it for America as a country.

I'm not super worried about it because I don't think it'll actually happen (and I think it's actually more complicated if this scenario plays out re: elector slates being certified) because I think even the GOP is aware of what that would cause. That it actually has some supporters in State legislatures at all is of course super fucking alarming but I just don't believe there's enough of them to actually do it.

Not quite true. From Article II Section 1:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

They have the authority to pick the "manner" in which electors are chosen, but they've already done that (and the manner is by people voting).
