It's a 3 bedroom house with 1 bath being rented in Waterloo Iowa for $725 a month. Near tons of places to eat. The town has mild weather year round and never gets over 90 degrees it seems, it has good pizza and chineese food nearby.

I am waiting for it to get late enough for me to call them about renting it.

I literally woke up with the adress running through my head and the feeling I needed to look it up even though I wanted to go back to sleep.

It's crazy, but super cool.

I had a dream about some address similar to my home address but it wasn't really an actual address... in this dimension, anyway

I thought I updated this earlier, but I guess not.

So I called and the dude is out of town and doesn't represent them anymore but he said to call next Tuesday when he's back in town and he'll check it out for me. It's a real place, a good price a great location (right across from a school I could teach at, volunteer or be a teachers assistant if my eyesight gets too bad), it has tons of good places to eat nearby for when I stop driving as well.

The price is insanely low as well $750 for a 3 bedroom house (no close neighbors) is amazing anywhere. The weather there is perfect (gets a bit cold in the winter but pretty much lever over 90 which is what I really care about).

Even if that place doesn't work out, Waterloo Iowa looks like a good place to live possibly, so the dream may have just led me to the town I will retire in:)

Also, I really want some sexy ghosts, you know, the kind that creap up under the covers and get a rise out of you etc. It's up there with me wanting ghosts to do the dishes (Except I have no dirty dishes anymore), so I guess now I just want sexy ghosts.

Sounds like fate. Some things just are meant to be. I wanted to get a new Build-a-Bear and I needed $55 dollars more. Thats exactly how much I got from some old batteries and cans and bottles at the recycling center. (I didnt need the money for Christmas shopping, except for wrapping stuff, I did that months ago.)

why do you want to move somewhere into a house that's unsellable outside of locals and migrants?

at least now you have the coast to enjoy and winter
those are pretty important things when buying a house, you also have nice wilderness

This topic prompted me to go looking at other apartments in my area and read their reviews.

I had expected and hoped, both, to find better than where I'm at now, but my current place is basically on average for the area, with its complaints being the same complaints in half or more of the other locations (druggies, cops coming all the time, lots of noise, hit-or-miss maintenance crew, etc.). Then the higher-rated ones either have very few reviews at all or are flooded with one-line "This is good" reviews from alleged people with one or two reviews per Google account, versus the more wordy reviews that rate lower coming from folks with numerous Google reviews under their belt.

It's disappointing really. I'm here with another year's lease, but it has been . . . an experience residing here. From the lack of any tour, to difficult stairs for carrying anything sizeable, to the unit being stupid small (and the bathroom being ridiculously huge for the little that's in it), to heaters being right under the windows so curtains are a no-go due to being a fire hazard (and oh yeah, the bathroom one still doesn't work despite calling maintenance on it), to the apartment being filthy and reeking of cigarettes when I moved in and miraculously being so much better when I scrubbed it down, to obvious druggies doing their thing in broad daylight, to loud neighbors at all hours, to one neighbor chasing a security person with a hammer before pulling a fire alarm at 5am on a day I had hoped to finally sleep in after a long week at work, to management misplacing paperwork I had filed because the girl filing said paperwork had quit when things needed to be processed.

If I had the time and energy to care for my own place, I would consider saving up and just buying a house, at this point. Then again, West Oly is a wee bit pricey in that regard. <_<

Yeah, I've looked around here but what I have at $600 amonth is pretty much the best I am going to get. I'm way out on steamboat island, which is bad for anyone (as it's 30 minutes to the safeway at cooper and Harrison which is the closest to me), but it's worse for me as I don't like driving at all, and I don't drive at night (or very rainy/cloudy/windy situations).

I'm open to moving around here if I could find something reasonable, but honestly everything is so expensive here, and long term I really don't want strangers as roomates, I want to find something I can live in comfortably while retired, and without great eyesight left, long term.

I don't think I'm gonna find that in Washington sadly.

I don't know about Iowa, it's just an option, though that town does look almost perfect. Wilderness doesn't matter to me anymore, I live on an island surrounded by trees everywhere right on a river, but I never even look out my window, so yeah, whatever is outside my apartment isn't going to matter.

What matters is internet + cheap rent + good places to eat, and convenient shopping.

That place in Iowa was right across from a school though, so I could walk there to volunteer or if I could get a job as a teachers assistant once I can't see well enough to read anymore (pretty much already there). It would be nice to still be able to help/be useful.
