The only reason I didn't rate myself in the 1-3 range is because I have had success with the Link to the Past Randomizer when I raced that. Outside of that one specific niche, I'm quite bad at video games and I don't play nearly enough games in general (Either by raw numbers or by variety of genre) to rate myself a good gamer on those grounds either.

i am very bad at video games honestly i just like playing them because they are fun : )

mostly i just have really poor dexterity so i'm mostly only good at things like "puzzle games" and "adventure games" but even in those i'm not actually good at in terms of speed/skill at solving puzzles or anything, i just have more patience for them than other people seem to so then people are impressed that i beat them without a walkthrough even though i take 8x as long as other people to solve them it feels

(this said, i am strangely good at games that are known for being "difficult dexterity challenges" like super monkey ball, or things like weird speedrun tricks or kirby air ride vehicles that have intentionally bad controls or things like that. I think maybe it's just that my fine motor skill is SO poor, unfamiliar with what is supposed to be "natural" in the first place, that things that are "unusual" dexterity experiences aren't actually any harder than "normal" motor skill control? that's always been my theory for why there are these arbitrary feeling exceptions)

Probably perfectly average, although I could be better if I were willing to invest more time in it.

With enough hours in I feel like I can get in the top percentage of players in most games(whether that's like multi-player or speed running categories), or at the very least get a really good understanding of mechanics within a reasonable short amount of time where I'm able to compete, or get good at.

I gave myself a 9 based mostly on passion. I play every genre and also get a huge kick out of studying ludology and thinking deeply on the design, mechanics, history and culture that go into making games what they are. It's one of those things that I think could keep me happy literally forever as long as there were people making games.

I'd probably say, like, a 5 overall. But it really depends on the genre.

I can hold my own with some games widely perceived as difficult, as long as they're old-school. Contra 4, Cuphead, Super Meat Boy, etc. Genres like FPS are a different story entirely, though. I've tried playing Halo and Call of Duty at various points, and I might as well have been trying to read hieroglyphics.

I'd say like a 9. I have a practically encyclopedic knowledge of gaming across many genres, and I'm highly into what makes games tick, as in how they're designed. I also used to play Call of Duty semi-professionally if that counts for anything.

Only accomplishments I'm proud of are probably just finishing the Extra stage in Imperishable Night, and getting all the emblems in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

i said 4, because if you exclude all of the mobile-only gamers that haven't had the requisite 10,000 hours of experience of hand-eye coordination training, i'm probably below average in skill and discipline

I gave myself an 8? I never really commit to one game enough to become top tier amazing at it, but I think im better than a large majority of people from the start of most games. Also theoretically when I do get really into something I can do some super hard stuff, like beating Super Meat Boy.

Well I view 10 as pro gamers and 9 as people that make careers out of it. So I'd say 7/8 is where most of us fall.

Voted 2 on the basis of game skill, as it takes me an inordinately long time to become anything better than completely terrible at any given game, and even then, it's often only enough to keep pace with the bottom edge of difficulty ramps (ex. Celeste). In the capital G sense, maybe a 3 or a 4, because I'm far from the most conscientious game consumer.

I put 8. Over 100 platinum trophies, plus I've ranked highly in world rankings for competitive SoulCalibur VI. I have a set win over the best North American player in that game actually.

Dropped points because I haven't explored many Nintendo classics, and I just got a gaming PC so I'm still getting into some of these PC exclusive games.

I did consider that, but with pro gamers it's more than just a hobby, it's a livelihood. So I guess to me that's the 'epitome' of being a gamer.

Achievement-wise (not trophies), I'd give myself a 10 for having completed over a 1000 games and having cleared my backlog entirely.

Skill-wise, probably a 7.

I would say 8 or 9. I can play pretty much any genre reasonably well, and I think I could have been pro level in a few games if I dedicated the necessary time, but there's too many games I want to play so I could never stick to one long enough to get that good at it. I can't give myself a 10 because I'm not top level in any area, just very good in terms of skill, experience, knowledge, etc.
