I am legitimately empressed that #NobodyLikesKelly has been sitting in my trending page for like a week even though I've never clicked it. That's of course for Loeffler and not Mike.

There's also a wierd trend in all the GA ads where from what I can tell Loeffler and Perdue just straight up aren't putting out ANY ads that aren't attack ads? I have not seen a single ad with either if them actually in it or talking about themselves, not even baked into the attack ads.

Meanwhile, Warnock has a puppy.

https://youtu.be/XK9E8iyibYo

There is the unfortunate side of things where Ossof and Warnock are both swinging to a pro police focus. One of Warnock's ads is like a dozen officers and sergeants talking about his great relationship with the police. And I mean, it's objectively a good ad, but I don't have to be happy about it.

Trump has basically poisoned positive ads for a long time. He's pretty much proof that negative ads work.

I mean, it wasn't Trump who did that. It's long been shown in data that for as much as people say they prefer positive ads, negative ads have much more impact in politics.

Also, in SCOTUS news. They heard oral arguments on the "can Trump exclude undocumented immigrants from the census count in regards to how house seats are apportioned" case

https://twitter.com/mjs_DC/status/1333443057262481408

According to this thread, it appears that at least 5 judges recognize that excluding them from the count is unconstitutional but a number of them seem to be raising ripeness/standing (that is, that until Trump/someone actually does this that it's not something they should rule on.) Specifically he says that Kavanaugh and Barrett appear to acknowledge that a categorical exclusion is unlawful they've been skeptical that SCOTUS can act until the policy has been implemented. And that only Thomas and Alito seemed gung-ho about excluding them.

Still might end up punting on ripeness and leave the underlying question unresolved.

They caved to this the moment it became apparent that Trump was a Russian lapdog (a.k.a. early on) and they did nothing about it. And when Trump implemented & encouraged domestic terrorism numerous time. And when they were okay with anything Bill Bar does. They were given clear opportunities to push back against this and never did.

Republicans didn't cave to facism. They ARE facism. Trump is just the figurehead.

And to pre-empt your statements about my exaggerating or taking things out of context or being extreme: I would like to remind you that the notion of the Democrats packing the courts scared you enough to claim that it would cause a civil war, despite the fact that Republicans have packed the courts to an absurd degree over the past four years.

From my perspective you very much seem like someone who gives the GOP the benefit of the doubt whenever you can and has been dragged into your current political stance of "maybe they're not doing so great" unwillingly by being unable to ignore Trump being Trump any longer. This is much better than never re-considering your point of view at all, but there is also very much a sort of longtime affection for the GOP in the undertone of all your posts in this topic series.

Yeah, pretty much. I can't find the full quote but there's one I like that goes "What do we call people back in WW2-era Germany who didn't agree with Nazis but stayed silent and never opposed them on anything? We call them Nazis." Republicans don't get a free pass for maybe deep down disagreeing with Trump. Not when they've NEVER once gone against his wishes.

Never said 'both sides' one side is certainly bat shit crazy.

But some of the policies that far left have proposed are proposterus. A transaction tax on money transactions would cause the financial sector to burst into flames. Universal health care would immediately destroy the health care sector. You can't throw fire bombs like that without having pragmatic solutions of how to slowly move to that point.

I really like Medicare for all who want it for instance because I think it's moving in the right direction

I think Romney and maybe Murkowski are literally the only Republicans to openly oppose Trump in the entire last four years. McCain did too but real talk I heavily question if he does if he wasn't dying at the time - there's a current trend of Republicans decrying Trump as they leave office, and it's like, that's little bit too late guys. I'm very happy that McCain opposes a change that would have fucked most of the country (me included) but yeah.

They want to pack the Court. They want to end the Electoral College. They want to end the Senate. They want 51% of the people to have dictatorial power over the other 49%.

Basically, they want to throw out our constitution and replace it with something similar to that of revolutionary France. And we know where that ended up - people being guillotined based on a preposterously low standard of evidence (whatever is sufficient to convince a patriot) within 4 years.

Almost half of Germans supported Nazi Germany. On a lower-key scale, 38% of the US doesn't believe in evolution. It's not only possible, but common for a large swathes of a populace to be completely wrong. So while it's good that you are more left than a lot of people in the US, from a worldwide perspective you aren't left in the slightest, which is important to keep in mind.
