This. Just not being able to breath 100% and being constantly winded after the smallest task.

I wouldn't be suprised if it has a toxoplasmosis like condition that lets it trigger people to spread it. I guess karens are the zombies?

The long-term/permanent damage, such as lung/brain damage.

Ngl, the short-term symptoms can be terrible, but I've seen people in my own family endure far worse for far longer periods of time. COVID-19 can put you out for a month, but those long-term effects are devastating.

... This is assuming one survives, of course.

Obviously, death is the worst, and other long-term respiratory/circulatory/neurological consequences are a close second, but persistent loss of smell/taste deserves an honourable mention for being such a slap in the face. Everything else is much more medically significant and/or life-threatening, but not being able to enjoy food is just sad.

You get it back supposedly. At least according to a co worker I had that got it. Id take the opportunity to eat and drink healthy stuff so i feel that symptom is a mixed bag for me.

I have heard that from some survivors of hospital-worthy cases. As much as this thing has a reputation as being primarily a respiratory virus, it sounds like the diarrhea angle of it can also be pretty horrific.

There's a few articles I've read that I don't fully understand that suggest that the virus lives on in a crippled state in the gut biome, extending the more bizarre symptoms while it hibernates.

I didn't even know diarrhea and abdominal issues were symptoms until I got it. I've been vomiting to. It's pretty rough. My kidney areas feel especially sore and painful.

I read one article of a lady telling her story about being hospitalized, and at one point, the diarrhea was so bad that it was pretty much just free-flowing out of her into the hospital bed while she curled up in agony from how badly her stomach hurt. And that was on top of barely being able to breathe and needing oxygen 24/7. It did not sound like a fun time.

vomiting can if it's right after a meal. Otherwise like diarrhea, no, you just lose water weight (and waste weight with diarrhea).

and you lose electrolytes which if you lose too much can cause a heart attack.

but also wtf

Abdominal pain of the list i suppose. The rest is unwanted but outright pain easily takes the cake for a wimp like me.

Damage after getting over the virus would be the worst possible part of it though.
