Ngl it's kinda sad that Day 1 patches have become such the norm now that it's just casually "oh it's ok just wait for the Day 1 patch to clean it up"

This won't be an issue once physical games are gone.

While I agree with the idea, using Nintendo as an example is unfair. They can afford to delay games because they are still making money off of Mario Kart and other games with long legs. CDPR pretty much has Witcher and I guess the revenue they earn from their gog.com division.

ok I just had my first really weird glitchy moment where a police car like... its supposed to be skidding to a stop, I think, but it just weirdly teleported into frame? It was quick, but really jarring.

also had a floating cell phone, but whatever.

Its running fine though, looks good, nothing remotely like that pre-patch base PS4 footage. This may be totally ok on PS5.

some some console performance earlier, past the Day 1 patch.

PS5 and Series X are near perfect on it, 55-60 FPS constantly. future patches can still improve but they're both great.
Series S seems locked to 30 and okay there.
One X and PS4 Pro aren't locked but struggling to hit 30, expect 20-35 with no consistency.
PS4 and One S are a powerpoint.

i do expect future patches to help console performance but this is very much so the GTA5 of the generation.

anyway, point is I'm playing on PC, so I think it's a coding issue more than a systems issue at this point. I'm sure these will be fixed within a week or two

anyway I bought a new PC somewhat to play this game, but I couldn't (shouldn't) shell out for top of the line (at the time) so I'm running a ryzen 3700x and a rtx 2070 (before the 3000 series was launched, not like I could've gotten one anyway but still). with those specs I can get bare minimum 60fps stable (usually hovers around 70) on all non ray-tracing settings maxxed out, and ray-tracing set to medium. I tried ray-tracing set to ultra originally, hopeful, but that was getting me around 45 fps and had to turn that off quickly.

The more I read about the technical problems with this game and the more I realize I will not be able to have any kind of positive experience with it on my base Xbox One, the more pissed off I get. I played GTA V on the 360, a game that launched a few months before the Xbox One and the PS4. GTA V had one problem for me: long load times. Aside from that, I had very few technical problems.

This game was originally going to be released 7 months before the launch of new consoles. What would that have even looked like? The cynic in me starts to think it was delayed until the Series X and PS5 were available, so at least some console gamers could enjoy the game (because who actually own a One X or a PS4 Pro unless they're streamers or YouTubers?)

Anybody shocked by these glitches and regrets buying the game is an idiot. There was no alternative to why they would delay the game 3 weeks after going gold. You dont go from so technically bad that it needs to be delayed to stable in three weeks.

base xbone is more or less the One S and... yeah, nothing enjoyable on that.
plenty of people have a One X or PS4 Pro though, they've got notably better performance and people tend to buy the higher ends when it's an option.

but for your ability to play this game, you can't. not unless you want to play it at 15-20 FPS anyway. future patches will try to improve it but don't get your hopes up here.

4 hours in, playing I guess a mid-tier build? GTX 970, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM. No idea what my system qualifies as nowadays.

Haven't run into any major bugs or glitches, seems to run fine. On a customized setting ranging from mid to high settings. Turned some stuff of like motion blur, RTX(obvi) and it keeps me at 30FPS pretty steady. Not ideal, but fine. Knew going in I wasn't going to be able to max anything out.

Haven't crashed, only bug I've came across is occasionally I can't pick items up. I can see why it has massive bugs and other issues though, there is a lot going on.

There's a bug thread on r/PS4 and it's looking like people on base models are still dealing with issues even after the most recent patch. Obviously better than that video I posted last night, but still a poor experience.

I'm also seeing some PS5 issues in that thread, but those look to be just general bugs and not performance issues.

Honestly, I wasn't around for the Skyrim glitches on PS3 launch, or New Vegas. Do we have a comparison? At the end of the day this is feeling like New Vegas PS3. Glitched to shit, but the base of the game is too good to pass up.

I played through Control on base PS4, and while it was def a mess at times (could consistently recreate a forced crash if I hammered on the weapon swap button for 10-15 seconds without fail), it was NOTHING like this.

I'm a little annoyed that there's no benchmark tool. I went with the suggested settings for now but no idea if I'm gonna have to tweak as I play. Won't really get a chance to play until tomorrow.
My computer is fairly high-end and I'm still running in 1080p (haven't upgraded monitor yet) so hoping it runs smooth.

Honestly, I'm glad the only franchise I'm fanatical about and MUST buy Day 1 is Zelda. Everything else can wait, and patience seems to be a fine choice if more developers will pursue this strategy of incrementally "making it better" two years after launch.

I mentioned it earlier, but I got Witcher 3 in 2019 with all the DLC for $15, and I can only assume it played much more smoothly than it did in 2015 (because I don't recall encountering major issues). All this early footage enforces my decision to do the same for Cyberpunk.

I would hope so too, but like I said, DMCA is so busted on these platforms that I'm not surprised their best efforts are still getting hit. If it's something that is clearly a song that should be DMCA'd, I could understand being like "Come on guys", but it seems like it's just random bullshit being hit.
