I never understand this. I get some people just need to validate their jobs but why not prompt customers of their opinions on ideas?

Like, instead of turning okcupid into tinder... why not have a popup at log in asking if its a good idea first?

Or whenever YouTube changes its interface. Or the recent Twitch thing.

Instead of assuming what people would like... just ask.

When sites (like this one) do offer surveys, I wonder how often they're ignored?

Customer opinion doesn't really matter, shareholder opinion however does.

When has it ever mattered what people care about? It's MUH MUH MUH MONEY. That's why changes happen. People don't like it? Less money is made and so they'll change it in a manner that people like so it makes more money. Money always talks.

They absolutely do. Of course they aren't going to ask everybody in the world, but they definitely do.

Dont offer a survey with a bunch of irrelevant questions.

Literally just ask the important change you plan to do.

Wikipedia doesnt always have popups, but when it does, it gets straight to the point of what they want to know. I respect that.

Who do they ask? I really doubt anyone would say Yea, I would like snapchat way more if it auto-played stories.

This should be correlated. Customer opinion should be what shareholders look at, no?

This should only matter unless said changes are terrible and implyi how completely out of touch the leadership are in relation to its employees and inner workings of their company.

In the case of something like that, the decision was likely already based on where they wanted to take the product, and feedback was on a few different variations of how it's implemented.
