Maybe 12pm means 12 picometers. There's an incredibly tiny planet in the clinic with you, and you have to use the telescope to be able to see it. The planet is a planet and the room outside is a room outside.

The answer is that it's a scam, no brain surgeon would just randomly give someone a million dollars for pointing a telescope at a planet. They're planning to harvest your brain and sell it on the black market and if you know what's good for you you'll run away before they return. If you go to the police and report it, they'll discover that it's all part of a huge organ trafficking operation the FBI has been looking into for years that goes by the name "Real Planet" and you'll be given a $1,000,000 reward for your part in bringing it down.

So for the answer to the riddle, you should look at all the details and clues. The answer is actually MUCH simpler than many people assumed. The key is in the wording of the assistant!

The assistant tells you to find a planet at 12pm. The fact that its now 11am gives you one hour. The umbrella implies its raining. So youre SOL right??? WRONG!

Florida is notorious for quickly changing weather. One minute it can be raining and the next it can be clearing up for sunshine. Its very possible to see multiple planets during the day, including Venus and Mars. And a telescope would make them even more visible!

But what if the rain doesnt stop before 12pm? Notice the assistant did not specify today at 12pm :). You technically can search any day until you find a planet at 12pm. And you are guaranteed to win the bet as long as you dont give up!

I hope you guys were able to get some joy out of this silly riddle. :p I know its not the best but I liked this one!

Regarding the brain clinic, it would have to be someone who believably has a million dollars to give away, so a brain surgeon would have this much money.

There were some really excellent guesses ITT and some of you were pretty much on the nose with your intuition :D

On par with either opening Google space on your phone and pointing your telescope at that somewhere, or pointing it at the moon and saying that the moon "Really is" a real dwarf planet

I'm not going to dump on you TC, if you made this up yourself good effort. You've already acknowledged it isn't the best but I haven't seen a single person in this topic that is dumping on you provide a riddle they made up themselves so until they do they have no room to talk.

That was my first guess too, but you aren't finding Earth with the telescope, you already found it with your naked eyes. You must "find a planet with the telescope" to win the bet

Depends on the time of year, but right now both Venus and Mercury are within visual distance. Just can't see them during the day. Aim the telescope at their easily Googleable co-ordinates, and say "Boom, bitch! One million please."

The clock is set to the incorrect time. It's actually in the evening and the assistant is taking a very late lunch break. To win, you have to spot Venus or another actual planet in the sky after an hour has passed, which you can do due it being dark out and not actually being 12pm.

In hindsight, I do agree that it wasnt the best-worded riddle. My friend from back home came up with it with her little brother. After I solved the version she told me, we tried to tweak it a bit to make it more solid but there are still some issues with it

Looking at all the details and clues why would you ask her if this is a trick before she giggles and goes to lunch break.

So post #33 solved it, at 12pm use Google and naked eye to locate planet. Point telescope at planet. Nothing tricky at all.

Your response was are you sure you can see in the current weather and then give us a solution where you can see in the current weather.

Overall very satisfying solution
