When a product is labeled "refrigerate after opening", do you make a point to leave it out of the fridge until it's been opened?

I've been corrected while putting away groceries and placing items that we obviously enjoy cold in the fridge even if I haven't cracked the seal yet "Not until you open it!" I've been told Is this a common sentiment? ... Copied to Clipboard!

I refrigerate the things I enjoy more when they're cold, like you, as long as I'm imminently going to open them. Otherwise I'll keep it elsewhere.

It just means that you need to refrigerate it once the seal is broken. But obviously there's nothing wrong with doing that before the seal is broken.

"refrigerate after opening" just means it HAS to be refrigerated after opening, not that you CAN'T refrigerate it before then
the only reason not to put them in the fridge is if your fridge isn't big enough to fit everything, so you only want to load in the essentials --- You did indeed stab me in the back. How is a ketchup a 'refrigerate after opening' when restaurants always have like 40 bottles of them all over their tables. They never refrigerate those, and it's not like they go through them that quickly.

It's not mostly sugar. It's still mostly tomatoes.

Really, though, almost everything I use with ketchup is supposed to be eaten hot, and the ketchup itself is in amounts that take no time at all to warm up. So being refrigerated always seems pretty irrelevant.
