Back again this week with more metallic mayhem. We've got several monstrous spinners ready to cause some carnage, including a brutal main event between Bloodsport and End Game, as well as the long-awaited debut of Chomp's brand new walker form! Remember that walkerbots get double the allotted weight, so that's a whopping 500 pounds of Chomp stomping its way into the BattleBox this week!

Tombstone did what Tombstone does and absolutely wrecked Slap Box. Great way for Ray and Tombstone to get back up after the loss to End Game earlier in the season. Pain Train was definitely not fully working in that second fight. It had some potential in that weapon but just wouldn't drive right and Slammow took it to Suplex City in the process. Now time for what might be one of my favorite bots of the season already, Perfect Phoenix.

Honestly, do not remember Shatter from last year.

It was a pretty flashy axe bot with a layer of special "ablative armor" that was purposely made to break off the bot like shrapnel as it absorbed hits. I believe it went 2-2 and missed the postseason in its first appearance last year.

Not even mad about that result. Skorpios tanked enough hits to stop the spinner and from there it was inevitable. Now time for a battle of the animals, Ribbot and Mad Catter.

I disagree. Both of them landed some solid hits, Mad Catter being able to get its weapon back spinning after the point where both of their weapons were gone was cool, and Toebiter (yes that's its name) gave us the best performance I've ever seen from a minibot in BattleBots.

Walker Chomp looks fucking ridiculous and I hate it. I hope Gamma 9 will be able to flip it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Mailbox chomp was garbage, the hammer was so damn powerful thay chomp always flipped its self off (yes you can say that)

No gripe on that decision, Chomp easily won on damage and was as aggressive as it could possibly be with that Snorlax-level mobility. I don't like it, but it makes sense and I accept it. That being said, after that fight, I really want to see Gamma 9 against a normal sized bot. That lifter is seriously good to be able to get 500 pounds of chonky boi Chomp up like that.

Time for Malice vs. Shatter in a battle of former teammates.

Really bizarre fight there. Malice's spinner and Shatter's hammer both essentially died simultaneously, and all we saw from there is Shatter harmlessly bonking Malice with the severed stump of its weapon. That was a close fight and I totally understand why the judges gave the decision it to Malice, but that could have easily gone the other way and I wouldn't have argued either.

Brutal main event right there to cap off a pretty good episode. Weapon-on-weapon clashes are always fun.

I picked Perfect Phoenix but in retrospect if Skorpios could survive Icewave for three minutes, a better Skorpios can handle Perfect Phoenix.

If you think about it, it was actually a win for both teams consider the damage they could have done to each other to escape with little damage especially at the start of the season is definitely a win-win in my book.

I find Chomp to be very interesting of a design, if nothing else as a sideshow attraction. Also, who knows how it'll fair. That said, I can already see some potential foes that'll shred into it. As someone said, this version of Chomp is like watching a normal bot try to fight an arena hazard, which is fairly accurate.

I was also thinking about how I can't even fathom the complexity and costs of Chomp, then I saw some old twitter post and did a mild digging. For its legs, not including the metal, machining, or logic board, each leg has 3 Enfield Technologies S2 cylinder positioning modules. Each one of those are 980 usd without taxes if you buy them yourself... they're a sponser, so they probably donated them in some form of demonstration. Either way you look at it, Chomp has 18 servos just for its legs alone that push over 18k usd if you bought them.
