What kind of motive would not allow this to be called a terrorist attack with an explosion of that magnitude?

Mobile Meth lab explosion. It was actually the ending they had planned for Breaking Bad season 1 if it didn't take off. Walt is driving through town and Jessie lights up a smoke and they vaporize a city block.

the speakers alerting everyone to leave makes this sound like just an elaborate suicide to become famous. Think about it, Christmas Day explosion? The only reason to do it then is because you want to make the news about you that day. I dont think Id call it terrorism. But its selfish if he just wanted to be known before he died by putting others at risk, a loudspeaker telling to evacuate doesnt cut it

I mean a blaring warning for people to get to safety is kind of the opposite of a terrorist attack. You need a purposeful motive to scare and/or kill people, so that will have to be determined if he left evidence behind. The guy is still an absolute shitbag who could have very easily killed people, but the intent is what ultimately makes a terrorist attack.

Not that I'm against calling this a terrorist attack, but who really cares? Also who is adamantly taking the stance it isn't?

Unless initial details have changed, the RV itself had a loudspeaker with a warning and he also shot off gunshots to get attention.

The possible avenues for a terrorist motive that I can think of are:

1. 5G paranoia
2. AT&T owns CNN

I think it was more sinister than that. The bomb went off before the countdown was finished. I think the warning was to try and lure more people out so it would do more damage.

Also, regardless of any warnings...what possible motive could someone have to blow up an entire street to war zone levels and not be considered terroristic? I don't want to hear the "just another crazy person" excuse again. there are too many of those.

The FBI definition of terrorism is:

The unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

Terrorism isn't just simply killing people or destroying property, there needs to be a purpose behind it. Until we know the motive, we cannot say it's terrorism.

It doesn't have to be political. The definition used by law information says it's violence to enforce an ideology. So it can be religious among other things.

Deliberate destruction of a particular building or aiding in a crime. While a bomb will inherently terrorize those around, I believe all terrorist attacks are labeled as such for having a particular goal in influencing or advancing something. This could turn out to be muh 5G nonsense or it could be something else.

He could possibly have had a gripe with AT&T and lost it. A terroristic motive would involve a political or ideological issue as opposed to just him being mad at AT&T.

The was a guy who flew his plane into an IRS building in Austin, TX years ago who was just mad that the IRS said he owed them $10k or something like that.

Personally, I think the FBI's definition of a terroristic act could reasonably be amended to include stuff like this and the IRS building incident.

But if we're wondering why the incident isn't being called terrorism as it stands today, then the reason for it is because they haven't established his motive yet.

Dude I worked with once genuinely believed that because the guy from Pakistan got promoted (different department) to assistant director meant it was a sign that we needed to get out before he brought in his friends from Pakistan to replace the entire company.
In an international company, where it was like 70/30 in terms of non-white people to white people.
