"Great" thing about the internet is anyone can find data to support anything (within reason).
Yeah the better thing is that that was the first result. I didn't dig. It was the most general key-word search, too. Next argument.

Also it's weird, I always thought pitbull apologists were just SJWs taking it as some projected racism about humans or something

But then my relative is (was?) a racist Trumper and is also a pitbull apologist lol

I guess both sides of the political aisle are susceptible to ignoring statistics

You're claiming that a pit bull putting it's teeth on somebody is essentially a guaranteed trip to the hospital for stitches. I would like that verified. If you can't verify it in any way, you can just say that and move on.

Not what I said so no need to verify. Sorry, I dont deal in hyperbole and word twisting, find someone else or be less transparent.

https://icatcare.org/advice/aggression-to-humans/

Look at the language they use to describe cats. They basically say cats have a natural inclination to be aggressive (they are hunters) but state it is about environment and mental health of the animal.

That is all everyone defending pitbulls are saying. It is the reflection of how the animal is taken care of and trained rather than what breed.

My cousin had two have two surgical procedures because a cat he was fostering for 6 weeks bit him in the hand and infected his knuckle. The cat got agitated and bit him.

A neglected Pit Bull is more dangerous than most dogs simply because of their jaw power.

That's why there is stigma. Of course a dog's aggression is based on it's life up present, but the problem is Pitbulls are hyper powerful dogs so an aggressive Pitbull is far more dangerous than an aggressive Golden Retriever---there is also the fact that naturally the breed tends to be more aggressive on average.

How many Golden Retrievers do you know that are dicks? I've seen labs abused and neglected that are still timid sweetys.

If we wanna rank animals based on bite strength, that is fine. That is a reasonable metric. I don't even have an issue with someone being afraid of pitbulls for this. A poorly trained pitbull, if it attacks, will cause far more damage than many other breeds. That is a correct assertion.

What is not is people saying Pitbulls have some natural inclination to attack. Pitbulls attract more asshole owners and scumbag "breeders".

all I am saying is that a most dog breeds are not dangerous by nature (while some are, yes, such as pit bulls).

no need to get personal or mad. You had a bad experience with a dog and it sucks. I saw a YouTube video where a cat claws out a young streamers eye and I dont think all cats are bad.

I've also been bitten by a dog. I was attacked by a husky. Wanna know why?

I was delivering papers and the previous paper boy before me abused him. Thus he learned behavior and attacked.

When I met the dog later he was perfectly wonderful with me.

Aggression is a LEARNED behavior.

its also incredibly strange to blanket judge an entire animal species over the behavior of a single animal.

I have yet to see a news report or a YouTube video of a Pomeranian, yorkie, etc causing grievous harm to a human. But theyre too small!... well, theyre cat-sized. Cats have messed up grown people in the past!

not to say all cats are bad (theyre not).

Certain dog breeds are definitely more docile or aggressive, but Pitbulls aren't inherently more aggressive than other dogs in the same category like a Rottweiler, Doberman, Shepherd, etc. The market is just flooded with them so you hear way more bad stories about them. If Rottweilers where as prevalent as Pitbulls where and trained just as poorly you'd hear the same narrative as with Pitbulls.

The problem is that with Pitbulls they have a stigma around them that makes absolute morons get them as pets. Morons who don't know how to train them and get them specifically because they look tough. In some cases growing up I knew people whose families had Pitbulls and they would specifically train them to be aggressive because they thought that was what a Pitbull was supposed to be. That's no fault of the breed, you could train a Golden Retriever poorly enough and they would bite the shit out of random people.

Now the one issue with Pitbulls I will note is that compared to most dogs they are actually built pretty damn well for fighting. So when you have an aggressive one they can do some serious damage compared to even some larger dog breeds. Combine that with the poor ownership and it's a recipe for disaster. I would never hate the breed, but If I see a Pitbull wondering around I'm not going to be nave enough to go near it. But I would feel the same way for many other breeds as well.

I work for the electric company (specifically on electric meters) and deal with dogs every day. The unfortunate truth is pit bulls are free and people who get a free dog dont care to train them or dont know how to train them. The dog breed that has attacked me the most is the Chow. But the dog I see most (by a large margin) are pit bulls. I have seen a pit maul another dog while I was working but the kid walking the pit didnt have the strength to stop it, obviously not the kids fault, or the dogs fault. So blame the owner who shouldnt have gotten a dog (let alone a dog that strong and hot tempered) to begin with.

Bruh, when i worked for spectrum and i went inside houses you wouldnt believe how often i heard "Its fine, they dont bite" then the dog wouldnt listen to their commands. The issue is that people dont train their dogs until its too late. When its hard and expensive for it. I had a dude that was 70ish, he could barely walk and had two giant german shepherds. They clearly didnt get out enough and weren't socialized with any other dogs other than each other. They were just two huge dogs with pent up energy and anxiety. He tried to put them up behind a little baby gate thing and they just broke it down. We told him that we couldnt work in his house until the dogs got put away somewhere where they couldnt get out. His wife came home and put them in the garage but the wife clearly wasnt able to walk them either.

Pit bulls get put in that situation far too often because they are cheap and often free. Just pent up energy, anxiety, and fear.
