In the state of Michigan (where this happened) the Romeo and Juliet laws do not apply to penetrative sex.

It sounds like what's legally right is more important to you than what's morally right. I agree he was kinda of a weirdo, but using a dumb law that was most likely used for homophobia is a stupid hill to die on. Seriously you didn't know people who had a 2 or 3 years gap in High school? There's close in age exceptions litterally because they could be seeing each other in high school everyday.

Is there any reason why you think Michigan law is above other states or countries laws? To me it's fucking weird that the law can be so different in literally the same country. These are still two literal teens we're talking about.

We used to have that dumb law in Canada, but it was removed because it was used to target gay men(even if they were the exact same age, it was still illegal, thankfully it changed). I am surprised it was not removed in all states as well.

How is it ridiculous? Adults should not be grooming people whose brain is not fully developed yet it's better than arresting two teenagers close to the same grade
