The "both sides" argument also removes all nuance from the discussion. In 2017, Democrats protested in massive numbers (peacefully, I might add) because despite the fact that 3 million more people voted Hillary, existential threat Donald Trump was still elected president. Note that the protests weren't trying to overturn the election itself, which the Dems begrudgingly had to accept (aside from Russian plant Jill Stein grifting people via useless recount efforts). In 2021, Republicans literally stormed the Capitol and threatened the lives of the Vice President, the House, and the Senate, all to stop the symbolic gesture of certifying election results that they didn't like and concocted falsehoods as to why they weren't real.
