Who boosts the most?

I can see several different valid answers to this.

Smash + Remake guarantees Sephiroth gets the biggest boost, I think

I actually think it'll be Aerith or Barret, especially Aerith. They have the most room to improve and its the first time they've been in the spotlight since 1997.

Aerith.

Of all the FF7 cast, she got by far the most flanderized in all the spinoffs and Kingdom Heartses. Remake totally undid that and reminded people that shes actually a real character.

Sephiroth thanks to Smash

though Barret has the highest to climb so its possible that he's the correct answer.

Barret has the most room for improvement, so it depends on what you mean by boosting the most.

Sephiroth will reach the highest of them

but relative to their previous strength to where they are now it's probably Aerith

Yeah, I'm not sure the hierarchy actually changes any other than I guess Seph might beat Tifa now. Tifa still beats Aerith but at least there's a reason to have the match again.

Aerith probably boosts the most, but Sephiroth ends up the strongest (after Cloud)

Honestly without Smash I would take Aeris > Sephiroth. Still think its competitive even after Smash.

Hmmm...maybe if it's moved Aerith up to her 2002-2003 levels (relative to the rest of the field) because she was getting 47% on Sonic back then.

If you think Aerith can beat Tifa then she can definitely beat Sephiroth. Those three are gonna be pretty close in strength. I'm not sure Sephiroth being in Smash can match up with Tifa giving people the opportunity to waifu her all over again.

The gap between them used to be tiny. With Remake + Smash..... who knows!

I honestly don't see Smash doing much for Sephiroth. Remake should be 100x more consequential, and from the sounds of it that helps the girls and Barret way more than him (thinking Zelda BOTW kinda boost, though probs not as extreme).

And don't sleep on Cloud, he's the lead in a proper game for the first time in decades, that could be a big deal!

You know Ultimate has sold 20 million copies, right?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold way more, I guess Pink Gold Peach is a big shot now! But really I don't think Smash presence automatically boosts characters as much as people assume, and how many people have bought Fighter's Pass 2 anyway?

Smash is more important than the remake imoooo.

In these parts you need votes from the Big N fanbase to survive.

Last contest we had literally even the most obscure Smash characters suddenly look really good, of course being in Smash will be relevant.

Looking at the contest overall, it's pretty clear that being in Smash was really good.

Though I will admit that the contest being just close to Ultimate's release might have helped make it even more prominant, which wouldn't be the case anymore.
